  1. 1. Mast cells in Hodgkin lymphoma : or 'What's a nice cell like you doing in a tumour like this?'

    Author : Marie Fischer; Gunnar Nilsson; Gunilla Enblad; Tor Olofsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; Hodgkin lymphoma; mast cells; CD30; CD30L; IL-9; CCL5; atopic dermatitis; psoriasis; IL-8; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi;

    Abstract : Mast cell (MC) accumulation around tumours is an old observation gaining new relevance due to the multifaceted nature of MCs and their many roles in immunity, beyond allergy. Knowledge about tumour specific recruitment of, and interactions with, MCs is needed to unravel the function of their presence. READ MORE

  2. 2. The role of CD30 in atopic allergy

    Author : Åsa Bengtsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : CD30; sCD30; CD30L; allergy; atopic dermatitis; T-cell clone; Th1 Th2; placenta; glutathione GSH ; N-acetyl-L-cysteine NAC ;

    Abstract : The 120 kDa CD30 molecule belongs to the tumour necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily and is expressed by activated lymphoid cells. Small populations of CD30+ cells have been detected in the peripheral lymphoid organs, as well as in the thymus. A subset of CD45RO+, so-called memory T cells, also express CD30 after various kind of stimuli. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mast cells in chronic inflammatory diseases : new insights in mast cell function and phenotype

    Author : Ricardo Filipe Da Silva Carvalho; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Mast cells are multifunctional cells that play important roles in health and disease. They are long lived cells with the capacity to be activated several times. Upon activation mast cells release a huge array of mediators. The nature of the mediators released is dependent on the stimuli. READ MORE

  4. 4. Bystander Cells and Prognosis in Hodgkin Lymphoma

    Author : Daniel Molin; Stephen J. Proctor; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is characterised histologically by a minority of malignant Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells surrounded by benign cells, and clinically by a relatively good prognosis. The treatment, however, leads to a risk of serious side effects. READ MORE
