  1. 1. Tissue transglutaminase autoantibodies in childhood celiac disease

    Author : Daniel Agardh; Pediatrisk endokrinologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; serologi; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; Immunology; serology; transplantation; villous atrophy; T cells; serological marker; screening; intestinal mucosa; children; celiac disease; CD25; CD8; CD4; autoantibodies; B cells; gluten-free diet; autoimmunity;

    Abstract : Celiac disease is a prevalent small bowel disease in children caused by permanent intolerance against gliadin, which is the alcohol-soluble fraction of the cereal protein gluten in wheat, rye and barley. Celiac disease is characterized by an inflammatory infiltrate of CD4+ T lymphocytes in the intestinal mucosa leading to damage of villous structure and loss of absorptive surface. READ MORE

  2. 2. CD4+CD25+ T regulatory cells in multiple sclerosis

    Author : Prabhakar Putheti; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, inflammatory, and demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS), which is likely to be mediated by autoaggressive immunity. Treatments of MS that may beneficially influence the disease course consist of Avonex (interferon-beta; IFN-beta), and Copaxone (glatiramer acetate; GA). READ MORE

  3. 3. CD25+CD4+ regulatory T cells in rheumatic disease

    Author : Duojia Cao; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Human; rheumatic disease; synovial fluid; regulatory T cells; FOXP3; suppression; tolerance; autoimmunity;

    Abstract : CD25+CD4+ T cells represent a unique cell lineage of thymus derived naturally occurring regulatory T cells. The gene Foxp3 (mouse)/ FOXP3(human) is strictly related to their generation in the thymus and their regulatory function in the periphery. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies on the function of CD4CD25 regulatory T cells: An in vitro approach

    Author : Lukas Cederbom; Immunologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; CD152; Costimulation; Dendritic cells; Regulatory T cells; CD4 CD25 ; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Abstract : Immunological self-tolerance is a state of the whole organism where deleterious responses are either avoided or regulated. Breaking of immunological tolerance will lead to autoimmune disease or chronic inflammatory conditions. READ MORE

  5. 5. T cells in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

    Author : Ester Roos-Engstrand; Anders Blomberg; Anders Bucht; Annelie F Behndig; Magnus Sköld; Claes-Göran Löfdahl; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : Background: Tobacco smoking is the main cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, COPD, but the mechanisms by which cigarette smoke induces COPD are still elusive. T lymphocytes have been implicated in the pathogenesis of the disease, but their role in the airway inflammation in COPD is not fully understood. READ MORE
