  1. 1. B cell activation in vitro: thymus-dependent immune responses and bacterial cell surface proteins

    Author : Karol Axcrona; Immunologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nuclear transport; bacterial Ig-binding proteins; CD40L promoter; CD21; Ig; B lymphocyte activation in vitro; CD40; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Abstract : In this thesis aspects of peripheral B lymphocyte differentiation were studied. Through in vitro experiments, B lymphocyte activation was assessed. B lymphocytes express immunoglobulin (Ig) specific for a certain antigen on the cell surface, and when surface Ig is crosslinked by an antigen, the cell is activated. READ MORE

  2. 2. Adenovirus-mediated CD40 Ligand Immunotherapy of Prostate and Bladder Cancer

    Author : Helena Dzojic; Magnus Essand; Thomas H Tötterman; Aristides Eliopoulos; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medicine; immunotherapy; gene therapy; prostate cancer; bladder cancer; adenoviral vector; CD40 ligand; promoter; PPT; TSTA; depsipeptide FK228; TRAMP-C2; Medicin;

    Abstract : Cancer immunotherapy aims at reversing the immunosuppressive tumor environment and enhancing anti-tumor immunity. This thesis comprises studies on murine models for prostate (TRAMP-C2) and bladder (MB49) cancer with the aim to explore if the introduction of an adenoviral vector expressing CD40 ligand (AdCD40L) can induce anti-tumor immune responses.
