  1. 1. Tumor biological aspects of the mucin-like glycoprotein CD43

    Author : Sirle Laos; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : CD43; leukosialin; sialophorin; mucin; colon adenoma; proteolytic processing; ; NF-kappaB; p65; chemokine; p53; ARF; Fas; apoptosis; transformation;

    Abstract : Cancer cells overexpress aberrant forms and amounts of mucins, which contribute to tumor development by regulating cell growth, survival, adhesion, invasion and immune responses. CD43, a type I transmembrane protein, is a mucin-like molecule expressed under normal physiological conditions by most hematopoietic cell types. READ MORE

  2. 2. Expression and novel function of CD43 in colon cancer cells

    Author : Christian X Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : CD43; leukosialin; sialophorin; mucin; nuclear localization; nuclear signaling; Wnt-signaling; beta-catenin; regulated intramembrane cleavage; RIP; proteolytic cleavage;

    Abstract : CD43 is a transmembrane protein containing an extracellular domain that is extensively O-glycosylated, and a relatively large intracellular domain with a conserved sequence between human, rat and mouse. It is frequently expressed in haematopoietic cell lines where it functions as a regulator of cell adhesiveness, a signal transducer and a cytoskeleton-interacting protein. READ MORE

  3. 3. Expression and functional significance of the leukocyte sialoglycoprotein (CD43) on subpopulations of human lymphocytes

    Author : Margareta Wikén; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  4. 4. Antibody Feedback Regulation and T Cells

    Author : Fredrik Carlsson; Birgitta Heyman; Alf Grandien; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fc receptors; B cell; T cell; antigen presentation; complement receptors; complement; IgE; IgG3; CD23; antibody; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Abstract : Antibodies, passively administered or actively produced, regulate immune responses to the antigen they recognize. This phenomenon is called antibody-mediated feedback regulation. Feedback regulation can be positive or negative, resulting in >1000-fold enhancement or >99% suppression of the specific antibody response. READ MORE

  5. 5. Studies on the biosynthesis of ABH and Lewis epitopes on O-glycans

    Author : Jonas Löfling; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Fucose; Lewis antigen; Blood group ABH; biosynthesis;

    Abstract : ABH and Lewis antigens are carbohydrate epitopes (glycans) found on a wide variety of cell surfaces. They are involved in many biological processes, e.g transplantation rejection, bacterial and viral adhesion, cell-cell communication and metastasis. The in vivo synthesis of glycans is mediated by glycosyltransferases (GTs). READ MORE
