  1. 6. Optimisation of Chemotherapy Treatment in Advanced Colorectal Cancer

    Author : Åke Berglund; Ragnar Hultborn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Colorectal cancer; chemotherapy; 5-fluorouracil; dose-effect relationship; ex vivo assay; thymidylate synthase; p53; CEA; TPS; VEGF; bFGF.; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Abstract : Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant diseases in Sweden – more than 5000 new cases are diagnosed each year. The overall five-year survival is about 60% and in cases of recurrence the prognosis is poor. READ MORE

  2. 7. CarcinoEmbryonic Antigen-related Cell Adhesion Molecule 8 (CEACAM8) : Purification, Characterization, Cellular and Clinical Studies

    Author : Linshu Zhao; Per Venge; Claes Dahlgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; human neutrophil; human eosinophil; granule proteins; CEA; CEACAM8; G-CSF; ELISA; subcellular fractionation; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : A 95-kDa protein was purified from normal human granulocytes. The protein reacted with a monoclonal antibody against CEACAM8. MALDI-Tof and MS/MS analyses revealed the protein to be a CGM6 gene product. Thus, the protein was proved to be identical to CEACAM8. READ MORE

  3. 8. Electron paramagnetic resonance and biochemical studies of red-ox properties of the diferric/radical center in mouse and Mycobacterium tuberculosis ribonucleotide reductase R2 proteins

    Author : Albert Davydov; Marc Fontecave; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biophysics; biofysik;

    Abstract : Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) catalyses the reduction of all four ribonucleotides to the corresponding deoxyribonucleotides that are used by the cells for DNA synthesis. The active enzyme from mouse, Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) and aerobically grown E. READ MORE

  4. 9. A search for neutralino dark matter with the AMANDA-B10 detector

    Author : Eva Dalberg; Yves Sacquin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : If supersymmetric particles in the form of neutralinos are part of the dark matter halo in our Galaxy, they can accumulate gravitationally in the center of the Earth and pair-wise annihilate therein. Such annihilations can be observed as an excess signal of vertical up-moving neutrino induced muon tracks in a neutrino detector like AMANDA. READ MORE

  5. 10. Solid state NMR of multiple-spin systems

    Author : Mattias Edén; Joseph Virlet; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Many nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments subject the nuclear spins to time-periodic modulations, for example, mechanical sample rotation and irradiation by periodic radio-frequency pulse sequences. An efficient simulation algorithm (COMPUTE) has been proposed for calculating NMR spectra from such systems. READ MORE
