  2. 2. Mass transfer and slag-metal reaction in ladle refining : a CFD approach

    Author : Eva Ramström; Du Sichen; Mselly Nozotta; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reoxidation; desulphurisation; CFD; ladle treatment; model; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract :   In order to optimise the ladle treatment mass transfer modelling of aluminium addition and homogenisation time was carried out. It was stressed that incorporating slag-metal reactions into the mass transfer modelling strongly would enhance the reliability and amount of information to be analyzed from the CFD calculations. 3. 3. ANALYZING THE HYDRO DYNAMICS AND THE CHEMICAL REACTIONS IN PULP DIGESTER SYSTEMS USING CFD MODELLING

    Author : Bijan Pourian; Erik Dahlquist; Laszlo Fuchs; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; MODELLING; SIMULATION; PULP; DIGESTER. CHEMICAL; MULTIPHASE; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to use differential analysis and finite volume method (FVM) to model and analyze a continuous pulp digester in order to create a detailed picture of the flow behaviour and chemical reactions in the digester. This information will be used to optimize wood chip flow and reactions and to diagnose and avoid faults such as hang-ups and channelling. READ MORE

  4. 4. Computational strategies in flame-spread modelling involving wooden surfaces

    Author : Jörgen Carlsson; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flamspridning; computational methods; pyrolysis modelling; fire modelling; fire growth; flame spread; Computational Fluid Dynamics; CFD; brandtillväxt; brandmodellering; pyrolysmodellering;

    Abstract : Various approaches to flame-spread and fire-growth modelling are discussed and are evaluated using experimental results from different tests. Use of Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD, in fire modelling is discussed and the performance of different CFD codes in wall flow modelling is analysed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Application of Parallel Computers to Enhance the Flow Modelling Capability in Aircraft Design

    Author : Mattias Sillén; Dan Loyd; Peter Eliasson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flow modelling; parallel computer; parallel efficiency; turbulence modelling; aircraft design; CFD; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : The development process for new aircraft configurations needs to be more efficient in terms of performance, cost and time to market. The potential to influence these factors is highest in early design phases. Thus, high confidence must be established in the product earlier than today. READ MORE
