  1. 1. Mass transfer and slag-metal reaction in ladle refining : a CFD approach

    Author : Eva Ramström; Du Sichen; Mselly Nozotta; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reoxidation; desulphurisation; CFD; ladle treatment; model; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract :   In order to optimise the ladle treatment mass transfer modelling of aluminium addition and homogenisation time was carried out. It was stressed that incorporating slag-metal reactions into the mass transfer modelling strongly would enhance the reliability and amount of information to be analyzed from the CFD calculations. 2. 2. CFD Methods for Predicting Aircraft Scaling Effects

    Author : Karl Pettersson; Arthur Rizzi; Bryan Richards; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; Scaling Effects; Boundary Layer Transition; Preconditioning; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the problems of scaling aerodynamic data from wind tunnel to free flight  conditions. The main challenges when this scaling should be performed is how the model support, wall interference and the potentially lower Reynolds number in the windtunnel should be corrected. READ MORE

  4. 4. Efficient Full-Scale CFD for Ship Hydrodynamics

    Author : Michal Orych; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CFD; Self-propulsion; Ship; Verification; Uncertainty; Full-scale; Validation; Seakeeping; Energy-Saving Device; Roughness; RANS;

    Abstract : An efficient numerical approach for ship hydrodynamics, involving a hybrid free-surface potential flow/RANS method, is explored. The work focuses on estimating the delivered power of ships in calm water and in waves, highlighting the benefits of full-scale simulations, particularly for ships with Energy Saving Devices.
