  1. 1. Unchaining Microservice Chains : Machine Learning Driven Optimization in Cloud Native Systems

    Author : Michel Gokan Khan; Javid Taheri; Andreas Kassler; Stefan Schulte; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cloud Native Computing; Service Mesh; Performance Modelling; Performance Optimization; Performance Simulation; Machine Learning; Resource Allocation; Computer Science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : As the cloud native landscape flourishes, microservices emerge as a central pillar for contemporary software development, enabling agility, resilience, and scalability in modern computing environments. While these modular services promise opportunities, particularly in the transformative ecosystem of 5G and beyond, they also introduce a myriad of complexities. READ MORE

  2. 2. Linking Chains Together : String Bits and the Bethe Ansatz

    Author : Martin Lübcke; Konstantin Zarembo; Antti Niemi; Matthias Staudacher; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical physics; theoretical physics; string theory; string bit; Bethe ansatz; Teoretisk fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part we focus mainly on certain aspects of the AdS/CFT correspondence. The AdS/CFT correspondence is a proposed duality between Type IIB superstring theory on AdS5 x S5 and N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. READ MORE

  3. 3. Chains of Trust : Networks of Persistent Resistance in Digital Activism

    Author : Philip K. Creswell; Hannah Bradby; Tora Holmberg; Cristina Flesher Fominaya; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; collective action; connective action; digital activism; hacktivism; social movements; social movement theory; high-risk activism; Anonymous; digital scenes; network theory; tie-strength; solidarity; micromobilization; commitment; Sociologi; Sociology;

    Abstract : Digital manifestations and their networks are seen as agile, but fragile, with the Internet facilitating fast, low-cost activism by bridging actors, distributing information, and circumventing gatekeepers. From this perspective, mediated collective action and digital activism are theorized through the understanding of the Internet as a medium which affords lowered costs and risks for activists. 4. 4. Random Loewner Chains

    Author : Carl Fredrik Johansson; Michael Benedicks; Ilia Binder; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Loewner differential equation; Schramm-Loewner evolution; loop-erased random walk; Hastings-Levitov model; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Abstract : This thesis contains four papers and two introductory chapters. It is mainly devoted to problems concerning random growth models related to the Loewner differential equation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Breaking the chains : A technological and industrial transformation beyond papermaking: Technology management of incumbents

    Author : Michael Novotny; Staffan Laestadius; Lars Coenen; KTH; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Technological and industrial transformation; development block; incumbents; pulp and paper industries; wood-based biorefinery; diverging innovations of non-assembled products; Teknologisk och industriell omvandling; utvecklingsblock; etablerade företag och industrier; massa- och pappersindustrin; vedbaserade bioraffinaderier; divergerande innovationer av icke-sammansatta produkter.; Industriell ekonomi och organisation; Industrial Engineering and Management;

    Abstract : In recent years, the necessity and opportunity for transforming pulp and paper mills into integrative units for large-scale output of biochemicals, biomaterials, and biofuels have come up in discussions of industrial renewal in the Northern hemisphere (mainly in Canada, Sweden and Finland). This transformation is related to technology shifts as well as changing business models based on new bioproducts due to profoundly new market conditions. READ MORE
