  3. 3. Lipoprotein lipase-unstable on purpose?

    Author : Liyan Zhang; Gunilla Olivecrona; Cecilia Holm; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Biochemistry; Lipoprotein lipase; Apolipoprotein CII; dimerization; monomerization; Molecular chaperones; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is a central enzyme in lipid metabolism. It is a non-covalent, homodimeric and N-glycosylated protein, which is regulated in a tissue-specific manner and is dependent on an activator protein, apolipoprotein CII. Dissociation of active LPL dimers to monomers leads to loss of activity. READ MORE

  4. 4. Arthritogenic and immunogenic properties of modified autoantigens

    Author : Karin Lundberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Post-translational modifications; pH; chlorination; citrullination; CII; CIA; RA;

    Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory joint disorder with autoimmune features in which both genetic and environmental factors are potential contributors to the arthritogenic process. In this thesis work we aimed to increase the understanding of early pathogenic events underlying the development of this complex disease by investigating the arthritogenic and immunogenic properties of modified autoantigens in experimental settings as well as in RA patients. 5. 5. The impact of protein modification on immunogenicity and arthritogenicity

    Author : Ewa Westman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Post translational modifications; chlorination; CII; CIA; RA; effect of therapeutic substance CDM for RA;

    Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease affecting about 1% of the Western world population. There are several theories regarding the etiopathogenesis. READ MORE
