1. Vertical Heterostructure III-V MOSFETs for CMOS, RF and Memory Applications
Abstract : This thesis focuses mainly on the co-integration of vertical nanowiren-type InAs and p-type GaSb MOSFETs on Si (Paper I & II), whereMOVPE grown vertical InAs-GaSb heterostructure nanowires areused for realizing monolithically integrated and co-processed all-III-V CMOS.Utilizing a bottom-up approach based on MOVPE grown nanowires enablesdesign flexibilities, such as in-situ doping and heterostructure formation, which serves to reduce the amount of mask steps during fabrication. 2. Graphene-based Devices for More than Moore Applications
Abstract : Moore's law has defined the semiconductor industry for the past 50 years. Devices continue to become smaller and increasingly integrated into the world around us. Beginning with personal computers, devices have become integrated into watches, phones, cars, clothing and tablets among other things. READ MORE

3. Microwave CMOS Beamforming Transmitters
Abstract : The increase of the consumer electronics market the last couple of decades has been one of the main drivers of IC process technology development. The majority of the ICs are used in digital applications, and for these CMOS is the choice of technology. The urge to squeeze more transistors on to a given area has led to shrinking feature sizes. 4. Low Power Techniques for Fast CMOS Buffer Memories
Abstract : The thesis deals with circuit-level aspects of CMOS buffer SRAMs where the data throughput rate is a more important metric than access time or storage capacity. One aspect is the increased write cycle related power consumption that is the consequence of a high write ratio combined with a long word-length. READ MORE

5. CMOS High Frequency Circuits for Spin Torque Oscillator Technology
Abstract : Spin torque oscillator (STO) technology has a unique blend of features, including but not limited to octave tunability, GHz operating frequency, and nanoscaled size, which makes it highly suitable for microwave and radar applications. This thesis studies the fundamentals of STOs, utilizes the state-of-art STO's advantages, and proposes two STO-based microwave systems targeting its microwave applications and measurement setup, respectively.
