  1. 21. Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Heart : Image quality, measurement accuracy and patient experience

    Author : Britt-Marie Ahlander; Jan Engvall; Elisabeth Ericsson; Eva Maret; Marcus Carlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Medicin;

    Abstract : Background: Non-invasive diagnostic imaging of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD) is frequently carried out with cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) or myocardial perfusion single photon emission computed tomography (MPS). CMR is the gold standard for the evaluation of scar after myocardial infarction and MPS the clinical gold standard for ischemia. READ MORE

  2. 22. Effects of postconditioning in ST-elevation myocardial infarction : assessment of myocardium at risk and infarct size

    Author : Peder Sörensson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Myocardial infarction remains a major health problem, despite recent improvements in detection and treatment. Infarct size is a major determinant of future mortality and morbidity. READ MORE

  3. 23. Interaction of Triglyceride-rich Lipoproteins with Platelets and Vitamin K-dependent Coagulation Factors

    Author : Ning Xu; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Triglycerides.; Prothrombin; Protein S; Protein C; Platelets; Phospholipids; Metabolism; Lipoproteins; Lipids; Endocytosis; Electron microscopy; Cytochemistry; Coronary heart disease; Blood coagulation factors; Arachidonic acid; Atherosclerosis; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : 1. During incubation of platelets with 3H-arachidonic acid (20:4, n-6) and 14C-cholesterol doubly labelled and colloidal gold labelled chylomicrons (CMs) and chylomicron remnants (CMRs) CMs were taken up more efficiently than CMRs. Addition of unlabelled CMs, VLDLs, LDLs and HDLs decreased the uptake of labelled CMs. READ MORE

  4. 24. Pump Physiology in the Remodeled Heart

    Author : Björn Östenson; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac magnetic resonance; cardiac remodeling; exercise imaging; exercise physiology; regional contributions to stroke volume; feature-tracking strain; atrioventricular plane displacement; atrioventricular coupling; ventricular-arterial coupling; clinical physiology;

    Abstract : This thesis aimed to increase the understanding of pump physiology in the remodeled heart compared to normal pump physiology.Study I was a cross-sectional observatory study investigating the regional contributions to stroke volume in patients with heart failure prior to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) and tested the hypothesis that this characterization of pumping could predict CRT response. 5. 25. Diagnosis, risk factors and quality-of-life in patients with myocardial infarction and normal coronary arteries

    Author : Maria Daniel; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Myocardial infarction with normal coronary arteries (MINCA) is a common condition that mostly affects middle-aged women. The pathogenesis is complex and includes various mechanisms that need to be explored for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Patients with MINCA often complain about low energy and appear to be distressed. READ MORE
