  1. 1. Field Programmable Gate Arrays and Reconfigurable Computing in Automatic Control

    Author : Carl Wilhelmsson; [2007]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; systems analysis; FPGA; Field Programmable Gate Array; programming; Compendex: Field programmable gate arrays FPGA ; programming environments; computer science; programmable controllers; observers; adaptive control; modelling; closed loop systems; logic CAD; control systems; reconfigurable architectures; field programmable gate arrays; Computer Programming; telecommunication control; Control system applications; Real time control; Computer control systems; Control systems; Engine Control; Heat release analysis; Cylinder pressure; power-train control; Vehicle control; High speed; Rapid Prototyping; Combustion control; Automotive control; Control application; High frequency; Computer control; Feedback Control; Closed loop systems; Control; Reconfigurable computing; Reconfigurable hardware; VLSI; Closed loop control; programmable logic arrays; Automatic Control; System on Chip SoC ;

    Abstract : New combustion engine principles increase the demands on feedback combustion control, at the same time economical considerations currently enforce the usage of low-end control hardware limiting implementation possibilities. Significant development is simultaneously and continuously carried out within the field of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). READ MORE

  2. 2. Ammonium Feedback Control in Wastewater Treatment Plants

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Linda Åmand; Bengt Carlsson; Peter Vanrolleghem; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aeration control; ammonium feedback control; biological nitrogen removal; full-scale experiments; gain scheduling control; PI control; process control; repetitive control; wastewater treatment; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Abstract : The aeration process is often the single largest consumer of electricity in a wastewater treatment plant. Aeration in biological reactors provides microorganisms with oxygen which is required to convert ammonium to nitrate. Ammonium is toxic for aqueous ecosystems and contributes to eutrophication. 3. 3. Interaction Analysis in Multivariable Control Systems Applications to Bioreactors for Nitrogen Removal

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Björn Halvarsson; Bengt Carlsson; Elling Jacobsen; [2010]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; activated sludge process; biological nitrogen removal; bioreactor models; control structure design; cost-efficient operation; decentralized control; interaction measures; minimum variance control; multivariable control; wastewater treatment; TECHNOLOGY Information technology Automatic control; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Informationsteknik Reglerteknik; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Abstract : Many control systems of practical importance are multivariable. In such systems, each manipulated variable (input signal) may affect several controlled variables (output signals) causing interaction between the input/output loops. READ MORE

  4. 4. Resource-Constrained Embedded Control and Computing Systems

    University dissertation from Department of Automatic Control, Lund Institute of Technology, Lund University

    Author : Dan Henriksson; [2006]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; robotteknik; reglerteknik; kontroll; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; numerisk analys; system; Datalogi; control; numerical analysis; systems; Computer science; Server control; Simulation tools; Feedback scheduling; Real-time control systems; Resource constraints;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with methods for handling resource constraints in embedded control systems and real-time computing systems. By dynamic feedback-based resource scheduling it is possible to achieve adaptability andincreased performance for these systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Control of Nitrogen Removal in Activated Sludge Processes

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Pär Samuelsson; Bengt Carlsson; Gustaf Olsson; [2005]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; activated sludge process; non-linear control; external carbon addition; multivariable control; cost-efficient operation; feedforward control; simulators; TECHNOLOGY Information technology Automatic control; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Informationsteknik Reglerteknik; Automatic Control; Reglerteknik;

    Abstract : More stringent requirements on nitrogen removal from wastewater are the motivation for this thesis. In order to improve treatment results and enhance cost-efficient operation of wastewater treatment plants, model based control strategies are presented.A Java based simulator for activated sludge processes (JASS) is presented.
