  2. 2. Immunotherapy and COX-2 inhibition against malignant brain tumors

    Author : Sofia Eberstål; Neurokirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Malignant brain tumors; immunotherapy; IFN-γ; GM-CSF; COX-2 inhibition;

    Abstract : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common primary brain tumor in the central nervous system and the prognosis is very poor despite conventional therapies including surgery, chemo- and radiotherapy. Peripheral vaccination with irradiated tumor cells represent a novel therapy that targets both dividing and non-dividing tumor cells and minimizes the risk of therapy resistance by presenting multiple tumor antigens. 3. 3. Tracing local hyaluronan after ocular anterior segment trauma

    Author : Anna Makar; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oftalmologi; Ophtalmology; COX-2 inhibitors; radiolabeling; trauma response; aqueous humor; hyaluronan; iris;

    Abstract : Hyaluronan has been found in the eye in varying amounts and at different sites. It is involved in physiological and pathological processes, though many aspects of its bio-logi-cal functions are still unclear. We have studied the role of iris tissue in hyal-uro-nan production in the anterior segment of the eye, and its changes after trauma. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors and knee prosthesis surgery

    Abstract : Adverse effects of cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitors on bone healing have previously been demonstrated in diaphyseal fracture models in animals. In spite of that, they are widely used as postoperative analgesics in orthopaedic surgery. After joint replacement, a bone repair process starts at the interface between bone and cement. READ MORE
