  1. 6. An integrative strategy for targeted evaluation of biomarker expression in non-small cell lung cancer

    Author : Johanna Mattsson; Patrick Micke; Johan Botling; Fredrik Pontén; Åslaug Helland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; non-small cell lung cancer; prognostic biomarkers; predictive biomarkers; immunohistochemistry; gene expression; COX-2; claudin; ALK; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : Despite improvements in therapy, the prognosis for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients remains poor, and cure is only possible in localized tumors after surgical resection. A new generation of targeted cancer drugs has led to the expectation that lung cancer therapy can be significantly improved, but these drugs are today only an option in a small subset of NSCLC patients, and their effect is temporary. Abstract : Squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN), the 6th most common cancer worldwide, has a low 5-year survival. Disease as well as treatment often causes patients severe functional and aesthetic problems. READ MORE

  3. 8. Involvement of Eicosanoid Signaling in Intestinal Epithelial Cell Survival

    Author : John Öhd; Malmö Experimentell patologi; []

    Abstract : Eicosanoids are known to be involved in many different aspects of eukaryotic physiology and pathology. Notably, over the past 10 years much attention has been given to cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) due to its involvement in colorectal cancer. Less is known about the other major branch of arachidonic acid metabolism, namely the lipoxygenases (LO). READ MORE
