  1. 1. Cell activation and nerve regeneration following peripheral nerve injury

    Author : Annika Widerberg; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; nerve regeneration; Nerve injury; conditioning lesion; nerve graft; tourniquet compression; vibration; DRG; Schwann cell; p75; CPON; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology;

    Abstract : The effect of short time vibration exposure and tourniquet compression on nerve regeneration in rats was studied with special reference to cell activation. One of the hindlimbs was conditioned by either vibration exposure (5 hours / day - 5 consecutive days) or compression (150-300 mmHg for 30-120 minutes), which was followed by a recovery period of 0-7 days. 2. 2. Biochemical characterisation and clinical correlation of neuropeptides in neuroblastoma with emphasis on neuropeptide Y

    Author : Per Bjellerup; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : chromatography; CPON; ganglioneuroma; mass spectrometry; neuroblastoma; neuropeptide Y; pancreastatin; phaeochromocytoma; primary structure; radioimmunoassay; somatostatin; vasoactive intestinal peptide;

    Abstract : Neuropeptides influence cellular events involved in tumour growth and differentiation. Neuroblastoma, a malignant childhood tumour of neural crest origin, synthesises and releases monoamines and neuropeptides. The concentrations of some of these neuropeptides in plasma are correlated to clinical stage and outcome. READ MORE

  3. 3. End-to-side nerve repair - A study in the forelimb of the rat

    Author : Eleana Bontioti; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nerve regeneration; Kirurgi; traumatology; Surgery; orthopaedics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Retrograde labelling; ATF3; Collateral sprouting; ortopedi; traumatologi; Nerve injury;

    Abstract : Nerve injuries have a profound impact on individuals, suffering for the patients and induce cost for society. When dealing with severe nerve injuries that create a gap between nerve segments or when the injury is at the brachial plexus level, the clinical alternatives are limited. READ MORE
