  2. 12. Computational modeling of polycrystals using gradient crystal plasticity

    Author : Mikkel Grymer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; parallel algorithms; crystal plasticity; dual mixed finite element method; gradient hardening; grain modeling;

    Abstract : This thesis treats the modeling of grain size dependence inmicrostructure models of metals. It is shown how gradient hardening, in a thermodynamically consistent fashion, can be included into a crystal plasticity model, which is used as the constitutive model in each grain of the polycrystal. 3. 13. Modelling of constitutive and fatigue behaviour of a single-crystal nickel-base superalloy

    Author : Daniel Leidermark; Kjell Simonsson; Johan Moverare; Sören Sjöström; Roger C. Reed; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Single-crystal nickel-base superalloys; crystal plasticity; tension compression asymmetry; rafting; fatigue initiation; critical plane approach; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : In this licentiate thesis the work done in the project KME410 will be presented. The overall objective of this project is to evaluate and develop tools for designing against fatigue in single-crystal nickel-base superalloys in gas turbines. READ MORE

  4. 14. Magnetic ordering and crystal structure in selected transition- metal compounds

    Author : Hui-Ping Liu; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; transition-metal compounds; magnetic ordering; crystal structure; magneticstructure; neutron diffraction; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : Applications of magnetic materials are inherently related to their crystal, magnetic and electronic structures. In this thesis, experimental and theoretical methods have been focused on magnetic bulk materials from novel chemical synthesis, to X-ray diffraction for initial phase characterisation, and crystal and magnetic structure studies to explain their complex magnetic properties. 5. 15. Fluids, Gels and Crystals : Phase behavior of binary thermoresponsive microgel mixtures

    Author : Jasper Immink; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; colloidal phase behavior; microgel; binary mixture; colloidal gel; sequential gelation; patchy particle; binary crystal; crystal-to-crystal transition;

    Abstract : Thermoresponsive colloidal microgels expel solvent from their interior upon crossing a threshold temperature, resulting in a significantly reduced size. The collapse of microgels can reversibly switch the interparticle interactions from soft repulsive to attractive, and the accompanying size reduction allows for precise control over volume fraction.
