  2. 2. CSF biomarkers reflecting beta-amyloid and axonal pathology in Alzheimer's disease and related conditions

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Clinical Neuroscience

    Author : Niklas Mattsson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimer s disease; biomarker; cerebrospinal fluid; beta-amyloid; axonal; Niemann-Pick type C; neuroborreliosis;

    Abstract : Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers may be used to identify and monitor pathological processes in the central nervous system. CSF biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) include β-amyloid 42 (Aβ42), total-tau (T-tau) and phosphorylated-tau (P-tau), reflecting brain amyloid, axonal and tangle pathology, respectively. 3. 3. Biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease and the APOE polymorphism

    University dissertation from Göteborgs universitet

    Author : Ronald Lautner; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2019]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alzheimer’s disease; Biomarkers; APOE; Cerebrospinal fluid; β-amyloid;

    Abstract : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers reflecting the core pathology of AD are now widely used for diagnosis making, in particular β-amyloid[1-42] (Aβ42) reflecting amyloid plaque pathology, phosphorylated tau (P-tau) reflecting neurofibrillary tangle pathology and total tau (T-tau) reflecting general neurodegeneration. In addition, blood-based biomarkers for AD are in the pipeline with recent studies showing promising diagnostic potential. READ MORE
