  1. 6. Fetal ECG waveform analysis for intrapartum monitoring

    Author : Isis Amer-Wåhlin; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reproduction; Obstetrics; gynaecology; andrology; cerebral metabolism; microdialysis; implementation; fetal asphyxia; intrpartum monitoring; Fetal ECG; Cardiotocography; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Abstract : Waveform analysis of the fetal electrocardiogram has been studied since the early seventies from both physiological, signal processing and clinical aspects. It has been found to contain more useful information than the mere detection of RR-intervals (fetal heart rate), e.g. READ MORE

  2. 7. Severe asphyxia due to substandard care during labour

    Author : Sophie Berglund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Asphyxia; Apgar score; labour; delivery; oxytocin; vacuum extraction; Caesarean section; substandard care; medical malpractice; cerebral palsy; neonatal resuscitation; perinatal death; neonatal death; fetal blood sampling; CTG; FHR;

    Abstract : Aim: The objective of the thesis was to describe the most common causes of substandard care during labour contributing to severe asphyxia or neonatal death, to study risk factors related to asphyxia associated with substandard care and to explore the occurrence of substandard care during labour. Background: There are about 100 000 infants born every year in Sweden. READ MORE

  3. 8. ST analysis of the fetal ECG as an adjunct to fetal heart rate monitoring in labour-a clinical validation

    Author : Håkan Noren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : fetal ECG; ST analysis; electronic fetal monitoring; cardiotocography; fetal blood sampling; metabolic acidosis;

    Abstract : The ability to make an accurate assessment of fetal well-being during labour is a great challenge. Animal and human studies have shown that fetal hypoxemia during labour can alter the shape of the fetal electrocardiogram (FECG) waveform, notable elevation of the T-wave and depression of the ST segment. 4. 9. Different aspects of electronic fetal monitoring during labor

    Author : Erika Gyllencreutz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Cardiotocography (CTG) is a tool to assess fetal well-being during labor and to detect early signs of fetal distress and thereby enable timely interventions to reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality. CTG is associated with shortcomings; poor reliability in interpretation, low specificity with a high proportion of false positive tracings indicating fetal distress when not accurate, no proven effect on rare severe outcomes such as mortality and cerebral palsy, but rather contributing to an increased risk of operative delivery. 5. 10. New approaches on fetal and maternal intrapartum monitoring

    Author : Stina Wretler; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Background: Intrapartum fetal monitoring aims to prevent adverse outcomes due to intrapartum asphyxia. Cardiotocography (CTG) is an established method for intrapartum monitoring. The method has high sensitivity, but low specificity and is also user-dependent and linked to both inter- and intraobserver variability. READ MORE
