  1. 6. Muscarinic Receptors in the Urinary Bladder - The role of the urothelium regarding cholinergic and nitrergic effects in inflammation

    Author : Michael Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; urinary bladder; inflammation; cyclophosphamide-induced cystitis; muscarinic receptor; urothelium; nitric oxide; M5 receptor; rat; proliferation; micturition;

    Abstract : Inflammation alters the functional properties of the urinary bladder. Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic inflammatory syndrome in man that is characterized by urgency, frequency and visceral pain. READ MORE

  2. 7. Cytochrome P450 enzymes affected by artemisinin antimalarials-pharmacokinetic and pharmacogenetic aspects

    Author : Sara Asimus; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : artemisinin; autoinduction; cytochrome P450; induction; inhibition; malaria; metabolism; pharmacogenetics; pharmacokinetics; probe;

    Abstract : With more than 500 million cases and at least 1 million deaths each year, malaria is a major global health problem. The main problem with malaria control is the emerging drug resistance among parasites causing the infection. Consequently, there is an urgent need for new drugs. READ MORE

  3. 8. Qualitative and Quantitative Assessment of Cytochromes P450 mRNA in Human : Studies in the Liver, Blood and Gastrointestinal Mucosa

    Author : Mari Thörn; Lars Lööf; Anders Rane; Ellen Vinge; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Drugs and other foreign compounds must often be metabolised before they can be excreted from the body. One enzyme system that is responsible for this is the cytochrome P450 gene family (CYP). READ MORE

  4. 9. Theoretical Studies of Anti-cancer Drug Tamoxifen and Estrogen Receptor Alpha

    Author : Gao Li; Yaoquan Tu; Lennart Nilsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : For decades tamoxifen (TAM) has been widely used for treatment of breast cancer by mediating mainly the estrogen receptor α (ERα) signaling pathways, whereby it suppresses estrogen stimulated cancer cell growth. The clinical response of TAM has been linked to cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6), which is the main isoform responsible for the conversion of TAM to the active metabolites 4-hydroxyTAM (OHT) and endoxifen. 5. 10. Metabolism of quinoline 3-carboxamide compounds, a group of synthetic immunomodulators, in various species

    Author : Helen Tuvesson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; enzymologi; Proteiner; enzymology; Proteins; Gastroenterologi; Gastro-enterology; pharmacokinetics; enzyme kinetics; quinoline 3-carboxamides; Keywords: Metabolism; cytochrome P450;

    Abstract : Cytochrome P450 (CYP) is involved in the metabolism of the majority of clinically used drugs. We have studied the CYP mediated metabolism of quinoline 3-carboxamides, a group of synthetic immunomodulators in liver microsomal preparations from various species. READ MORE
