1. Plant Calreticulins -Calcium-binding proteins with many functions
Abstract : Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) plays an important role in protein synthesis, folding, maturation and transport of newly synthesized proteins, as well as the regulation of cellular Ca2+ homeostasis. A protein that is involved in several of these functions in the ER is calreticulin (CRT), which is a Ca2+-binding chaperone that resides in the lumen of the ER. READ MORE

2. Mechanisms involved in macrophage phagocytosis of apoptotic cells
Abstract : Efficient removal of apoptotic cells is critical for development, tissue remodelling, maintenance of homeostasis, and response to injury. Phagocytosis of apoptotic cells is mediated by many phagocytic receptors, soluble bridging molecules, and pro-phagocytic ligands on the surface of apoptotic cells. READ MORE

3. Studies on three matrix molecules in bone and dentin
Abstract : The biomineralization of bone and dentin is a complex and dynamic process, involving the formation of an organic framework in which mineral crystals are deposited. The noncollagenous proteins (NCPs) of the organic phase play a central role in the extracellular matrix (ECM) organization and mineralization regulation. READ MORE

4. Novel non-collagenous modulators of biomineralization in bone and dentin
Abstract : The formation of mineralized tissues such as bones and teeth is governed on many levels by molecular, genetic, and cellular events to culminate in terminally differentiated cells that secrete a specialized organic matrix, which is later mineralized through the coordinated deposition of calcium phosphate crystals. The formation of this hard tissue phase is tightly regulated by components of the extracellular matrix (ECM), since deviations from this equilibrium result in prevalent, debilitating health problems such as arthritis, vascular calcification, periodontal disease and osteoporosis. 5. Plant Calreticulins - isoforms, localization and function
Abstract : Calreticulin (CRT) is an endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-located protein involved in quality control of newly synthesized proteins as well as in calcium homeostasis of the cell. Most of what is known about CRT arises from studies of mammalian systems. READ MORE
