  1. 1. Exceptionally Preserved Cambrian Lophotrochozoa : Taxonomy, Systematics and Taphonomy of Chengjiang and Indian Springs Lophophorates

    Author : Aodhán D. Butler; Michael Streng; Lars E. Holmer; Christian Skovsted; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Brachiopoda; Chengjiang; Lagerstätte; Cambrian Explosion; palaeobiology; stem-group; entoproct; phoronid; tommotiid; exceptional preservation.; Earth Science with specialization in Historical Geology and Palaeontology; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot historisk geologi och paleontologi;

    Abstract : The origin and evolution of Lophotrochozoa can be traced to the plethora of lower Cambrian scleritome taxa.  We aim to determine the character suites linking these stem-Lophotrochozoa to their extant crown relatives, in particular the small shelly tommotiids and the stem-group brachiopods. 2. 2. Early Cambrian Problematic Lophotrochozoans and Dilemmas of Scleritome Reconstructions

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Cecilia M Larsson; Lars E Holmer; Christian B Skovsted; Anette E S Högström; John S Peel; Glenn A Brock; Michael J Vendrasco; [2012]

    Abstract : The emergence and radiation of metazoan body plans around the Precambrian/Cambrian boundary, some 500-600 million years ago, seems to be concordant with the appearance and diversification of preservable hard parts. Several Precambrian soft-bodied, multicellular organisms most likely represent stem-group bilaterians, but their fossil record is rather sparse. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evolution and taxonomy of Cambrian arthropods from Greenland and Sweden

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Martin Stein; John S. Peel; Dieter Waloszek; David J. Siveter; Reinhardt M. Kristensen; David L. Bruton; [2008]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cambrian; Arthropods; Trilobites; Evolution; Greenland; Sweden; NATURAL SCIENCES Earth sciences Exogenous earth sciences Historical geology and palaeontology; NATURVETENSKAP Geovetenskap Exogen geovetenskap Historisk geologi och paleontologi;

    Abstract : Arthropods have a rich fossil record spanning the Phanerozoic. Biomineralized forms such as the extinct trilobites are particularly common and are proven index fossils for biostratigraphy. Forms with an unmineralized cuticle are more rare, preserved only in so called konservat lagerstätten. READ MORE

  4. 4. The lower and middle Cambrian of Sweden: trilobites, biostratigraphy and intercontinental correlation

    University dissertation from Department of Geology, Lund University

    Author : Niklas Axheimer; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sedimentologi; Paleontologi; Palaeontology; fysisk geografi; Geologi; physical geography; Geology; Sweden; correlation; trilobites; biostratigraphy; Cambrian; Sedimentology;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on studies of Cambrian successions in Sweden, with particular focus on the middle Cambrian biostratigraphy and its correlative relationship to the proposed global agnostoid zonation. The investigated material, mainly trilobites, was collected from both outcrops and drill cores from five provinces in Sweden: Skåne (Scania), Öland, Västergötland, Jämtland and Lapland. READ MORE

  5. 5. Upper middle Cambrian through Furongian of Scandinavia with focus on trilobites, paleoenvironments and correlations

    University dissertation from Department of Geology, Lund University

    Author : Fredrik Terfelt; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleontologi; Palaeontology; Scandinavia; Paleoenvironments; Biostratigraphy; Trilobites; Cambrian; Furongian;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on studies of upper middle Cambrian through Furongian strata in Scandinavia with focus on trilobite biostratigraphy, taxonomy, paleoecology, and intercontinental correlation. The material studied derives mainly from Västergötland and Scania, southern Sweden. READ MORE
