  1. 1. Influence of carbides and nitrides on corrosion initiation of advanced alloys A local probing study

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Eleonora Bettini; KTH.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; carbides; nitrides; microstructure; CoCrMo alloys; duplex stainless steels; localized corrosion; transpassive dissoluti on; elemental depletion; AFM; TEM; SEM.;

    Abstract : Advanced alloys often present precipitated carbides and nitrides in their microstructure following exposure to elevated temperatures. These secondary phases are usually undesirable, because potentially deleterious for the corrosion and mechanical performances of the material. READ MORE

  2. 2. Sintering of cemented carbides : experiments and modeling

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Materialvetenskap

    Author : Sven Haglund; KTH.; [1998]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : During sintering of cemented carbides large volumetricshrinkage takes place. About half the volume of the originalgreen body is lost during this process. Due to lotal densitydifferentes within the green body undesired shape changes mayalso occur during sintering. READ MORE

  3. 3. Strength and Stability of Interfaces in Cemented Carbides

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Materialvetenskap

    Author : Mikael Christensen; [2004]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; adhesion; segregation; plastic deformation; microstructure; interfaces; electron structure calculations; cermets; sintering; infiltration; cemented carbides; grain boundaries; cutting tools; density-functional theory; hardmetals; WC-Co; wetting;

    Abstract : Cemented carbides are hard composite materials of great technological importance. They are widely used as tool materials in a large variety of applications where the demands on hardness and toughness are high, including e.g.≈mining, turning, cutting, and milling. READ MORE

  4. 4. Atomistic modeling of interfaces in WC-Co cemented carbides

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Materialvetenskap

    Author : Martin Petisme; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; analytic bond order potentials; weing; WC-Co; grain boundary sliding; grain boundaries; density functional theory; molecular dynamics; interfaces; cemented carbides;

    Abstract : Grain and phase boundaries are crucial in understanding the properties of real materials. In this thesis, interfaces in WC–Co cemented carbide are modeled atomistically using density functional theory (DFT) and analytic interatomic potentials. READ MORE

  5. 5. Influence of microstructure on fatigue and ductility properties of tool steels

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Mats Randelius; KTH.; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tool steels; fatigue; ductility; carbides; carbide cluster; inclusion; size distribution; modelling; FEM; TECHNOLOGY Chemical engineering Metallurgical process and manufacturing engineering Metallurgical process engineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Kemiteknik Metallurgisk process- och produktionsteknik Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Abstract : Fatigue and ductility properties in various tool steels, produced by powder metallurgy, spray forming or conventionally ingot casting, have been analysed experimentally and successfully compared to developed models. The models are able to predict the fatigue limit and cause for fatigue fracture, and strain- and stress-development until fracture during the ductile fracture process respectively. READ MORE
