11. [11C]Carbon Monoxide and Aryl Triflates in Palladium-Mediated Carbonylation Reactions : Synthetic approaches to [11C]Carbonyl Compounds and [11C]Amines
Abstract : The usefulness of low concentrations (typically 10 to 100 µM) of [11C]carbon monoxide and aryl triflates as substrates in 11C-carbonylation using different nucleophiles in the presence of lithium bromide was investigated. The reactions were performed in a micro autoclave of 200 µL volume and catalysed (mediated) by palladium(0). READ MORE

12. Regulation of Insulin Secretion in Relation to Nitric Oxide, Carbon Monoxide and Acid alpha-Glucoside Hydrolase Activities
Abstract : The main stimulus for insulin secretion is elevated blood glucose levels. In this thesis the aim was to study less well-known systems involved in the complex regulation of glucose-stimulated insulin release, emphasizing the role of the lysosomal/vacuolar system and the associated glycogenolytic acid alpha-glucoside hydrolases, but also the HO-CO and NOS-NO systems. 13. Synthesis of 11C-labelled Alkyl Iodides : Using Non-thermal Plasma and Palladium-mediated Carbonylation Methods
Abstract : Compounds labelled with 11C (β+, t1/2 = 20.4 min) are used in positron emission tomography (PET), which is a quantitative non-invasive molecular imaging technique. It utilizes computerized reconstruction methods to produce time-resolved images of the radioactivity distribution in living subjects. READ MORE

14. Mitigating Off-Gassing and Self-Heating in Fuel Wood Pellets Storage : A Raw Materials Selection and Pre-Treatment Centred Approach
Abstract : Wood pellets have become a preferred solid biomass fuel for heat and power generation due to their standardized nature, known properties, and consistent quality. However, pellets produced from fresh sawdust sometimes undergo self-heating and off-gassing during storage. This poses a challenge for their transportation and storage. READ MORE

15. Fuel Cells and Biogas
Abstract : This thesis concerns biogas-operated fuel cells. Fuel cell technology may contribute to more efficient energy use, reduce emissions and also perhaps revolutionize current energy systems. The technology is, however, still immature and has not yet been implemented as dominant in any application or niche market. READ MORE
