  1. 1. Superheater corrosion in biomass and waste fired boilers : Characterisation, causes and prevention of chlorine-induced corrosion

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Peter Viklund; KTH.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high temperature corrosion; waste; biomass; superheater tubes; steel; alkali; chlorine; sulphur;

    Abstract : Biomass and waste fired boilers suffer severely from corrosion of critical components such as superheater tubes. In this work high temperature corrosion of superheater alloys, and methods to mitigate the problem, have been investigated by laboratory studies and controlled field exposures in commercial boilers. 2. 2. SiC-FET Gas Sensors Developed for Control of the Flue Gas Desulfurization System in Power Plants Experimental and Modeling Experimental and Modeling

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Author : Zhafira Darmastuti; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SiC-FET sensors; temperature cycle operation; detection mechanism studies; SO2; H2S;

    Abstract : Electricity and power generation is an essential part of our life. However, powergeneration activities also create by-products (such as sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides,carbon monoxide, etc), which can be dangerous when released to the atmosphere. READ MORE

  3. 3. Residual and Solubility trapping during Geological CO2 storage Numerical and Experimental studies

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Maria Rasmusson; Uppsala universitet.; [2018]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; capillary trapping; CCS; convective flow; CO2; light transmission; SO2; well test; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : Geological storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) in deep saline aquifers mitigates atmospheric release of greenhouse gases. To estimate storage capacity and evaluate storage safety, knowledge of the trapping mechanisms that retain CO2 within geological formations, and the factors affecting these is fundamental. READ MORE

  4. 4. A palaeolimnological study of the anthropogenic impact on dissolved organic carbon in South Swedish lakes

    University dissertation from Centre for Environmental and Climate Research, Lund University

    Author : Petra Bragée; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DOC; Brownification; Landscape Reconstruction Algorithm; Land-use changes; Lake sediments; Anthropogenic impact;

    Abstract : During the past three decades, increases have been observed in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentrations and colour in the surface waters of lakes and rivers in parts of Europe and North America, raising concern about the effects on the quality of aquatic environments with consequences for biodiversity, resource availability and recreational use. Various hypotheses have been put forward to explain the recent increases in DOC concentration and numerous studies have been published linking them to declining anthropogenic atmospherically deposited sulphur.
