11. Reducing Carbon Dioxide Emissions from the EU Power and Industry Sectors - An assessment of key technologies and measures
Abstract : In February 2011, the European Council reconfirmed the goal of reducing EU greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% by 2050, as compared to the levels in 1990. The power and industrial sectors currently account for almost half of the total GHG emissions in the EU. READ MORE

12. Land-atmosphere interaction of a subarctic palsa mire
Abstract : The main objective of this thesis was to quantitatively estimate the gaseous exchange of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) between a subarctic wetland ecosystem and the atmosphere. Additionally some initial estimates of the carbon input to the atmosphere of nonmethane hydrocarbons (NMHCs) were also obtained by combining different techniques in a joint setting. READ MORE

13. Remote Measurements of Ship Emissions
Abstract : The combustion of sulphur-containing fossil fuels gives rise to emissions of sulphurdioxide. Nitrogen oxides are also emitted when fuels are burned. The InternationalMaritime Organization (IMO) has ratified regulations regarding Sulphur Fuel Content(SFC) and NOx emissions from the shipping sector. READ MORE

14. Energy consumption transition : final household energy consumption in the case of Sweden 1920-2010
Abstract : This licentiate thesis examines households’ final energy consumption over the long run by measuring their final energy use and examining how structural, institutional and economic factors affected the demand for energy in the residential sector during the period 1920-2010, a period covering the transition from traditional to fossil to renewable energy carriers. I believe that wider understanding of the historical energy transition and energy consumption within the residential sector might help us gain important insights into the long-run development and the factors affecting energy consumption among the households. 15. Northern peatland carbon biogeochemistry : the influence of vascular plants and edaphic factors on carbon dioxide and methane exchange
Abstract : The interest in carbon dynamics and the interactions between ecosystems and the atmosphere has increased during the last decade due to the postulated threat of anthropgenically induced global and climate change. Northern peatlands, with their large stores of organic carbon and long-term net accumulation of atmospheric carbon dioxide are key ecosystems in these interactions. READ MORE
