1. Green consumption energy use and carbon dioxide emission
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to explore the quantitative potential to reduce energy requirements and CO2 emissions through changed patterns of consumption, given unchanged levels of consumption expenditure. The thesis question is analysed using a systems analysis approach which in this case means that life cycle assessment data on energy requirements and CO2 emissions related to household consumption are combined with a financial and behavioural analysis to make sure that the budget constraint is kept and that both the first and second order effects of adopting a green consumption pattern are analysed. 2. Essays on Energy and Climate Policy – Green Certificates, Emissions Trading and Electricity Prices
Abstract : Paper I: An Electricity Trading System with Tradable Green Certificates and CO₂-emission Allowances Combinations of various policy instruments to deal with the threat of climate change are used throughout the world. The aim of this article is to investigate an electricity market with two different policy instruments, Tradable Green Certificates (TGCs) and CO₂ emission allowances (an Emission Trading System, ETS). 3. European ecosystems on a changing planet : Integrating climate change and land-use intensity data
Abstract : Dynamic global vegetation models are mathematical models that provide a bottom-up description of plant communities. They explicitly model physiological and population-level processes such as growth, photosynthesis, carbon allocation, regeneration and mortality. READ MORE

4. A spectroscopic study of polymer : Carbon nanotube composites
Abstract : Since the identification of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by Ijima in 1991, this material has become a subject of great interest and effort in science because of the outstanding physical properties it exhibits. CNTs can be thought of as graphene sheets rolled into seamless cylinders of various diameters and in principle infinite length. READ MORE

5. Fabrication and Characterization of Composite TiO2/Carbon Nanofilms with Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is dedicated to fabrication and characterization of an efficient thin film photocatalyst for environmental cleaning and solar fuel applications. Because of its simplicity and reproducible fabrication, the chosen combination of nanometer thin titania and carbon films serves also as a model system for a wider class of photoactive materials.
