21. Magnetic properties of magnetosomal greigite and factors influencing its occurrence and preservation in Baltic Sea Littorina sediments
Abstract : The Baltic Sea is one of the world’s largest brackish water environments and is today suffering from, for example, eutrophication, spreading hypoxia, accumulations of contaminants and invasive organisms. These problems exist due to a combination of natural features that makes the Baltic Sea a sensitive ecosystem (such as long water residence time, limited water exchange, large catchment area), and anthropogenic pressures on land, (such as agriculture and land-use changes, large human populations and industries) and in the sea (such as transport, fishing and bottom-trawling). 22. On leachate emissions from municipal solid waste
Abstract : When attention is drawn to the recovery of resources within waste, the amount and types of waste disposed of at landfills change. A waste management system based on separate kerbside collection, sorting, recycling, and pretreatment with material and/or energy recovery produces new residues, which finally end up at landfills. 23. Intramolecular isotope analysis reveals plant ecophysiological signals covering multiple timescales
Abstract : Our societies' wellbeing relies on stable and healthy environments. However, our current lifestyles, growth-oriented economic policies and the population explosion are leading to potentially catastrophic degradation of ecosystems and progressive disruption of food chains. READ MORE

25. DYNAMIC MODELLING OF BIOGEOCHEMICAL PROCESSES IN FOREST ECOSYSTEMS
Abstract : Forests in Sweden are undergoing rapid and considerable changes regarding both management methods and environmental conditions. To understand the effects of these changes and to be able to predict impending changes in forest ecosystems, a holistic understanding of the processes governing the ecosystem is needed. READ MORE
