11. Multicomponent Reactions in 11C/12C Chemistry : – Targeting the Angiotensin II Subtype 2 Receptor
Abstract : Section 1 of this thesis contains an introduction to method development in organic synthesis, multicomponent reactions, sulfonyl azides, tracer development in 11C chemistry and the biological target.Section 2 describes the use of sulfonyl azides in carbonylative chemistry. Paper I covers development of a diazotransfer protocol. READ MORE

12. Discovery of Small Peptides and Peptidomimetics Targeting the Substance P 1-7 Binding Site : Focus on Design, Synthesis, Structure-Activity Relationships and Drug-Like Properties
Abstract : Biologically active peptides are important for many physiological functions in the human body and therefore serve as interesting starting points in drug discovery processes. In this work the neuropeptide substance P 1–7 (SP1–7, H-Arg-Pro-Lys-Pro-Gln-Gln-Phe-OH), which has been demonstrated to reduce neuropathic pain and attenuate opioid withdrawal symptoms in animal models, has been addressed in a medicinal chemistry program with the overall aim of transforming this bioactive peptide into more drug-like compounds. 13. Design and Synthesis of Novel AT2 Receptor Ligands : From Peptides to Drug-Like Molecules
Abstract : Many peptide receptors are of pharmaceutical interest and there is thus a need for new ligands for such receptors. Unfortunately, peptides are not suitable as orally administrated drugs since they are associated with poor absorption, rapid metabolism and low sub-receptor selectivity. READ MORE

14. Development of Palladium-Promoted 11C/12C-Carbonylations and Radiosynthesis of Amyloid PET Ligands
Abstract : In the first part of this thesis, palladium(0)-catalyzed and -mediated carbonylations are discussed. Paper I describes a new method for the safe, efficient use of a solid carbon monoxide source in the synthesis of primary and secondary benzamides. READ MORE

15. Advances in Stereoselective Palladium(ΙΙ)-Catalyzed Oxidative Transformations of Allenes
Abstract : Palladium(ΙΙ)-catalyzed carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond formation via selective C-H bond oxidation constitutes a step-economical and versatile approach towards complex target molecules. This thesis has been focused on the development of new selective palladium(ΙΙ)-catalyzed transformations of allenes under oxidative conditions catalyzed by either homogenous or heterogeneous palladium(ΙΙ) catalysts.
