  1. 1. Regulation of Hyaluronan Synthesis and Signaling via CD44 in Cancer

    Author : Merima Mehić; Paraskevi Heldin; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Liliana Schaefer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hyaluronan; CD44; TGFβ; PDGF-BB; cancer; signaling; hyaluronan synthase; epithelial-mesenchymal transition; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Abstract : Hyaluronan is a ubiquitous glycosaminoglycan which is an important constituent of the extracellular matrix (ECM). In addition to organizing the extracellular matrix and regulating tissue homeostasis, hyaluronan, by binding to its main cell surface receptor CD44, is involved in intracellular signaling pathways regulating major cellular processes during development, wound healing, inflammation and cancer. Abstract : The developing nervous system depends largely on extracellular cues to shape its complex network of neurons. Classically, neurotrophins are known to be important mediators in this process. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies on the biological functions of interaction between components in Wnt, TGF-β and HIF pathways for cancer progression

    Author : Karthik Aripaka; Maréne Landström; Jonas von Hofsten; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Ruth Palmer; Lars-Gunnar Larsson; Umeå universitet; []

    Abstract : Cancer is a disease that involves aggressive changes in the genome and aberrant signals between the living cells. Signalling pathways such as TGF-β (Transforming growth factor-β), Wnt, EGF (epidermal growth factor) and HIF (Hypoxia-inducible factor) evolved to regulate growth and development in mammals. 5. 5. Epigenetic Regulation of Replication Timing and Signal Transduction

    Author : Rosita Bergström; Aristidis Moustakas; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Rolf Ohlsson; Alain Mauviel; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Upon fertilization the paternal and maternal genomes unite, giving rise to the embryo, with its unique genetic code. All cells in the human body are derived from the fertilized ovum: hence they all contain (with a few exceptions) the same genetic composition. READ MORE
