  1. 1. Anti-Tumor Effects of CysLT2R in Epithelial Cancer

    Author : Cecilia Magnusson; Malmö Cellpatologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; migration; Colon cancer; breast cancer; EGF; interferon;

    Abstract : The pro-inflammatory cysteinyl leukotrienes (cysLTs) are implicated in several pathological disorders, such as asthma and inflammatory diseases. The well-established connection between chronic inflammation and cancer implicates inflammatory mediators in cancer progression. It is therefore of interest to examine the effects of the CysLTs in cancer. READ MORE

  2. 2. Breast cancer epidemiology : influence of hormone-related factors

    Author : Cecilia Magnusson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : breast neoplasms; incidence; prognosis; hormones; hormone replacement therapy; estrogens; progestational hormones; body size; body height; reproductive history; contraceptive agents; lactation;

    Abstract : The main purpose of this thesis was to explore how hormone-related factors, including use of hormone replacement therapy and oral contraceptives, body size in different periods of life and reproductive factors, influence the risk of breast cancer. Other aims were to assess how family history of breast cancer modifies the associations between such factors and risk of the disease and how hormone replacement therapy affects tumour characteristics. 3. 3. Morphology studies of thin films of polyfluorene: fullerene blends

    Author : Cecilia Björström; Kjell Magnusson; Mats Fahlman; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The formation of thin films of polymer blends by spin-coating from solution is characterised by rapid solvent quenching, a process that results in non-equilibrium morphologies. Thin films of conjugated polymer blends are used as the active material in polymer solar cells, in which the morphology may have drastic effects on device performance. READ MORE

  4. 4. Biochemical and functional properties of mammalian bone alkaline phosphatase isoforms during osteogenesis

    Abstract : The human skeleton is a living and dynamic tissue that constantly is being renewed in a process called bone remodeling. Old bone is resorbed by osteoclasts and new bone is formed by osteoblasts. READ MORE

  5. 5. Subjective Cognitive Complaints in the Working Population : The Influence of Objective Cognitive Functioning and Working Conditions

    Author : Cecilia U. D. Stenfors; Lars-Göran Nilsson; Töres Theorell; Linda L. Magnusson Hanson; Gabriel Oxenstierna; Nancy Pedersen; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : Cognitive functioning is important for managing work and life in general. However, subjective cognitive complaints (SCC), involving self-perceived difficulties with concentration, memory, decision making, and clear thinking are common in the general and in the working population and can be coupled with both lowered well-being and work ability.
