1. Finite element modelling of the mechanics of solid foam materials
Abstract : Failure of bi-material interfaces is studied with the aim to quantify the influence of the induced stress concentrations on the strength of the interfaces. A simple point-stress criterion, used in conjunction with finite element calculations, is evaluated to provide strength predictions for bi-material bonded joints and inserts in polymer foam. 2. Transverse anisotropy in softwoods : Modelling and experiments
Abstract : Transverse anisotropy is an important phenomenon of practical and scientific interest. Although the presence of ray tissue explains the high radial modulus in many hardwoods, experimental data in the literature shows that this is not the case for pine. READ MORE

3. Upgrading Cellulose Networks: Conquering Limitations in Fiber Foams
Abstract : The battle to create structural materials with low environmental impact demands the investiture of two champions: porous structures and cellulose substrates. The dominant solutions when constructing strong lightweight materials are plastic and metallic foams, while currently, cellulose fiber foams suffer from challenges which hamper their development. 4. Ultrasound-assisted Interactions of Natural Killer Cells with Cancer Cells and Solid Tumors
Abstract : In this Thesis, we have developed a microtechnology-based method for culturing and visualizing high numbers of individual cells and cell-cell interactions over extended periods of time. The foundation of the device is a silicon-glass multiwell microplate (also referred as microchip) directly compatible with fluorescence microscopy. READ MORE

5. On the mechanics of actin and intermediate filament networks and their contribution to cellular mechanics
Abstract : The mechanical behaviour of cells is essential in ensuring continued physiological function, and deficiencies therein can result in a variety of diseases. Also, altered mechanical response of cells can in certain cases be an indicator of a diseased state, and even actively promoting progression of pathology. READ MORE
