1. Porous Cerium Dioxide for Catalytic Applications
Abstract : Mesoporous cerium dioxide with high crystallinity has been synthesized and studied by TEM, SEM, nitrogen adsorption, PXRD, AFM, and SAXS. The catalytic properties of the materials have been investigated The results of the catalysis experiments were correlated with high resolution TEM investigations of the corresponding material, and it was found that the exposed crystallographic facets play an important role in the conversion of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. 2. Structure, Morphology, and Catalytic Properties of CuOx/CeO2 Model Catalysts
Abstract : Cerium dioxide, or ceria, is a chemically stable oxygen ion conducting material with a capacity to store and release oxygen, and is therefore extensively used in combustion catalysts. The Cu-Ce-O system has been identified as one of the most active catalysts for the combustion of carbon monoxide. READ MORE

3. Mixed metal oxide - noble metal catalysts for total oxidation of volatile organic compounds and carbon monoxide
Abstract : CO, volatile organic compounds, and polyaromatics areubiquitous air pollutants that give rise to deleterious healthand environmental effects. Such compounds are emitted, forinstance, by the combustion of wood, particularly fromsmall-scale heating appliances. READ MORE

4. Growth, Characterization, and Thermal Stability of CeO2 Thin Films
Abstract : Rare earth oxides are potentially useful materials in various optical electronic, and catalytic devices. The characteristics of such devices are strongly dependent on the interface structure of heterojunctions, hence engineering of the performance can be achieved through tailoring of the micro- and/ or surface structure. 5. Studies on preparation and properties of nanophase metal oxides
Abstract : This thesis is about science on an atomic scale - aninterdisciplinary approach to nanoparticles. Studies of thepreparation of nanoparticles using both physical and chemicalmethods are presented. Understanding and controlling factorsfor particle growth during synthesis are the keys to successfulfabrication of materials with tailored properties. READ MORE
