21. An analytical framework for studying transcriptional regulation
Abstract : The state and behavior of any living cell is controlled by a complex interplay of different regulatory processes, with the regulation of transcription playing a major role. When a cell adapts to a new environment it often does that by modulating gene transcript levels, mainly through changes in transcription factor binding events. READ MORE

22. Functional studies of Mediator in Arabidopsis thaliana and Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Abstract : Mediator has been shown to be essential for regulation of RNA Polymerase II mediated transcription. Mediator functions as an interface between the general transcriptional machinery and a multitude of DNA binding transcriptional regulators, although the molecular mechanism for the process is elusive. 23. Let's talk about SOX : diverse key players in the transcriptional regulation of neural stem cells
Abstract : The development of the central nervous system relies on neural stem cells. How these stem cells either maintain their identity as self-renewing progenitors or differentiate into cells of the neuronal or glial lineage are fundamental questions. READ MORE

24. Targeting molecular mechanisms for epigenetic silencing in multiple myeloma : Implications for biology and precision medicine
Abstract : Multiple myeloma (MM) is a heterogeneous haematological cancer where malignant plasma cells clonally expand within the bone marrow. The transcriptional repressor PRC2 and its catalytic subunit EZH2 play a major role in MM, as PRC2 re-targeting results in a MM-specific gene silencing profile. READ MORE

25. Functional characterization of the biological significance of the ZBED6/ZC3H11A locus in placental mammals
Abstract : The recent advances in molecular and computational biology have made possible the study of complicated transcriptional regulatory networks that control a wide range of biological processes and phenotypic traits. In this thesis, several approaches were combined including next generation sequencing, gene expression profiling, chromatin and RNA immunoprecipitation, bioinformatics and genome editing methods in order to characterize the biological significance of the ZBED6 and ZC3H11A genes.
