  1. 1. Mathematical Reasoning in Physics Tests : Requirements, Relations, Dependence

    Author : Helena Johansson; Mats Andersson; Jesper Boesen; Kerstin Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Mathematical reasoning; imitative reasoning; creative mathematical reasoning; physics tests; physics tasks; upper secondary school; Mantel-Haenszel procedure; Mantel-Haenszel procedure.; Mathematical reasoning;

    Abstract : By analysing and expanding upon mathematical reasoning requirements in physics tests, this licentiate thesis aims to contribute to the research studying how students’ knowledge in mathematics influence their learning of physics. A sample of physics tests from the Swedish National Test Bank in Physics was used as data, together with information of upper secondary students’ scores and grades on the tests. READ MORE

  2. 2. Correlated random effects models for clustered survival data

    Author : Frank Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; competing risks; case-cohort; semiparametric; Survival analysis; random effects; routine register; frailty model; Survival analysis; frailty model; competing risks; random effects; case-cohort; routine register; semiparametric;

    Abstract : Frailty models are frequently used to analyse clustered survival data in medical contexts. The frailties, or random effects, are used to model the association between individual survival times within clusters. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the optimization of opportunistic maintenance activities

    Author : Adam Wojciechowski; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mixed integer linear programming; stochastic programming; complexity theory; mixed integer linear programming; complexity theory; stochastic programming;

    Abstract : Maintenance is a source of large costs; in the EU the maintenance costs amountto between 4% and 8% of the total sales turnover. Opportunistic maintenance is anattempt to lower the maintenance cost by considering the failure of onecomponent as an opportunity to replace yet non-failed components in order toprevent future failures. 4. 4. What characterizes persons with high and low GHG emissions? Lifestyles, well-being and values among Swedish households

    Author : David Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Greenhouse gas emissions; sustainable consumption; subjective-wellbeing; materialism; sustainable consumption;

    Abstract : Global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions need to be reduced to around a third of the current level before 2050 and approach zero at the end of the century if we are likely to reach the twodegree target. Sweden has sometimes been promoted as a model for the transition towards sustainable emission levels, with reductions of 20 percent between 1990 and 2012, but when embedded emissions from imported goods are accounted for (and exports are excluded) the development instead show an increase by at least 15 percent between 1993 and 2010. 5. 5. Organoleptic Interfaces: Exploring Embodied Methods in Foodscapes

    Author : Anna Maria Orru; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; urban-making; embodiment; artistic-based research; foodscapes; relational assemblages; deeper commitment to environment; performativity; imagineering; critical cartography; choreography; performativity;

    Abstract : In the move to re-acquaint urban green and in-between spaces as solely parks and open spaces, this research looks to the concept of emerging foodscapes to form a transformative behaviour with food in the city. Urban population growth, unstable food security, environmental consequences of industrial food production are all motives for concern, alongside individual awareness of food provisioning, seasonal availability and behaviour.
