  1. 1. Common risk factors associated with acute myocardial infarction: Population-based studies with a focus on gender differences

    Author : Charlotte A Larsson; Samhällsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cortisol; insulin resistance; abdominal obesity; hypertension; type 2 diabetes; population-based; AMI; gender differences; physical activity; left ventricular hypertrophy;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to explore how the risk for AMI, and the associations between several of its risk factors, differs by gender. Information was collected from four Swedish cohorts: one patient cohort from Skara (1992-1993, n=1149) and three population-based cohorts, i.e. READ MORE

  2. 2. Biosensing and Protein Array Design using Lipid Assemblies

    Author : Charlotte Larsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : protein adsorption; protein arrays; lipid bilayer; SPR; scFv; lipid vesicle; DNA arrays; QCM-D;

    Abstract : Biomolecular sensing often includes immobilization of biomolecules, e.g. DNA, antibodies etc., to solid supports, where they act as selective recognition elements. READ MORE

    Author : Charlotte U Larsson; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bakteriologi; mycology; bacteriology; Microbiology; virologi; mykologi; neonatal infection; human antibody; intranasal; vaccine; cholera toxin B subunit; Rib; α; Group B streptococcus; surface protein; Mikrobiologi; virology;

    Abstract : Infection with group B streptococcus (GBS), an encapsulated bacterium, is an important cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Capsular polysaccharides and cell surface proteins of GBS are candidate antigens for development of a human GBS vaccine. Proteins have many advantages as vaccine antigens. READ MORE

  5. 5. Study of Catalyst Deactivation in Three Different Industrial Processes

    Author : Ann-Charlotte Larsson; Mehri Sanati; Ferruccio Trifiro; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; deactivation; catalyst; SCR; VOC; steam reforming; aerosol particle; potassium; zinc; ash salts; biomass; organosilicon; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Deactivation of catalysts were investigated focusing on three industrial processes: 1) Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) for abatement of NOx from biomass combustion using V2O5-WO3 /TiO2 catalysts; 2) Catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOC) from printing industries using a Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst; and 3) Ni and Pt/Rh catalysts used in steam reforming reaction of bio-syngas obtained from biomass gasification.The aim has been to simulate industrial conditions in laboratory experiments in order to comprehend influence of compounds affecting catalysts performance.
