  1. 1. Band Alignment Between ZnO-Based and Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Thin Films for High Efficiency Solar Cells

    Author : Charlotte Platzer-Björkman; Lars Stolt; John Kessler; Ayodhya Tiwari; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; solar cells; Cu In Ga Se2; atomic layer deposition; ZnO; Zn O S ; Zn Mg O; band alignment; photoelectron spectroscopy; Elektronik; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : Thin-film solar cells based on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 contain a thin buffer layer of CdS in their standard configuration. In order to avoid cadmium in the device for environmental reasons, Cd-free alternatives are investigated. READ MORE

  2. 2. Sputtering-based processes for thin film chalcogenide solar cells on steel substrates

    Author : Patrice Bras; Charlotte Platzer-Björkman; Eric Jaremalm; Jan Sterner; Veronica Bernudez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : CIGS; CZTS; solar cell; photovoltaics; thin film; sputtering; annealing; gallium grading; blister; uniformity; stainless steel; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : Thin film chalcogenide solar cells are promising photovoltaic technologies. Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS)-based devices are already produced at industrial scale and record laboratory efficiency surpasses 22 %. Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 (CZTS) is an alternative material that is based on earth-abundant elements. READ MORE

  3. 3. Alternative back contacts for CZTS thin film solar cells

    Author : Sven Englund; Charlotte Platzer Björkman; Jonathan J. Scragg; Levent Gütay; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CZTS; thin film solar cells; back contacts; passivation; interface; titanium nitride; ATO; antimony-doped tin oxide; transparent back contact; CZTS; tunnfilmssolceller; bakkontakter; passivering; gränsskikt; mellanskikt; titannitrid; antimondopad tennoxid; ATO; transparent bakkontakt; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : In this thesis, alternative back contacts for Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin film solar cells were investigated. Back contacts for two different configurations were studied, namely traditional single-junction cells with opaque back contacts and transparent back contacts for possible use in either tandem or bifacial solar cell configuration. 4. 4. Reactive sputtering and composition measurements of precursors for Cu2ZnSnS4 thin film solar cells

    Author : Tove Ericson; Charlotte Platzer-Björkman; Tomas Kubart; Marika Edoff; Anders Hallén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cu2ZnSnS4; Kesterite; Reactive sputtering; Process curve; Photovoltaics; Composition measurments; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) is a thin film solar cell material that only contains abundant elements and for which promising conversion efficiencies of 9.2 % have been shown. In this thesis composition measurements and reactive sputtering of precursors for CZTS films have been studied. These precursors can be annealed to create high quality CZTS films. READ MORE

  5. 5. Sputtering of Precursors for Cu2ZnSnS4 Solar Cells and Application of Cadmium Free Buffer Layers

    Author : Tove Ericson; Charlotte Platzer-Björkman; Tomas Kubart; Marika Edoff; Yaroslav Romanyuk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; solar cells; thin film; buffer layer; sputtering; reactive sputtering; CZTS; kesterite; zinc tin oxide; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to understand the influence of the deposition process and resulting film properties on Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin film solar cells. Two main aspects are studied, namely formation of absorber precursors by sputtering, and alternative Cd-free buffer materials with improved band alignment. READ MORE
