1. Operando X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy Studies of Methane Oxidation Catalysts
Abstract : Operando spectroscopy is an experimental method in catalysis that combines measurements of catalytic activity and selectivity with simultaneous in situ spectroscopic characterization of the catalyst. Since the structure and composition of the catalyst are probed under reaction conditions, the method can provide valuable information to elucidate the mechanism of the studied reaction. READ MORE

2. Transient In Situ Studies on Supported Catalysts: CO2 Methanation and Methane Oxidation
Abstract : This dissertation aims to increase the understanding of important steps in the catalytic CO2 hydrogenation and total methane oxidation reactions over supported noble metal catalysts. A general theme is the role of the metal oxide support for the catalytic reactions. READ MORE

3. Functionalized mesoporous carbons as non-precious metal fuel cell catalysts
Abstract : Fuel cells allow for clean and efficient chemical to electrical energy conversion. However, their high price significantly limits the market viability of the technology. This is to a large part due to the high cost of the precious metals used in most fuel cell catalysts. READ MORE

4. CO Oxidation over Oxide Supported Platinum Catalysts
Abstract : Catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide (CO) is one of the most studied reactions that still needs to be improved because of its practical use in the chemical industry including feedstock purification and applications such as emission control, in-door air cleaning, improvement of fuel cell efficiency, etc. Concerning CO emissions, the transportation sector is a large contributor. 5. Chemically Modified Metal Oxide Nanostructures Electrodes for Sensing and Energy Conversion
Abstract : The goal of this thesis is the development of scalable, low cost synthesis of metal oxide nanostructures based electrodes and to correlate the chemical modifications with their energy conversion performance. Methods in energy conversion in this thesis have focused on two aspects; a potentiometric chemical sensor was used to determine the analytical concentration of some components of the analyte solution such as dopamine, glucose and glutamate molecules.
