  1. 1. Theoretical and Experimental Studies of Electrode and Electrolyte Processes in Industrial Electrosynthesis

    Author : Rasmus Karlsson; Ann Cornell; Jan Rossmeisl; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrocatalysis; metallic oxides; ruthenium dioxide; titanium dioxide; DSA; doping; selectivity; ab initio modeling; density functional theory; Elektrokatalys; metalloxider; ruteniumdioxid; titandioxid; DSA; dopning; selektivitet; ab initio-modellering; täthetsfunktionalteori; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Heterogeneous electrocatalysis is the usage of solid materials to decrease the amount of energy needed to produce chemicals using electricity. It is of core importance for modern life, as it enables production of chemicals, such as chlorine gas and sodium chlorate, needed for e.g. materials and pharmaceuticals production. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modelling Evolution : From non-life, to life, to a variety of life

    Author : Yu Liu; David J. T. Sumpter; Peter Dittrich; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical biology; Biocomplexity; Artificial chemistry; Ecosystem evolution; Origin of life; Self-replication; Prebiotic evolution; Collectively-catalytic; Golden ratio; Tillämpad matematik och statistik; Applied Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : Life is able to replicate itself, e.g., a microorganism is able to divide into two identical ones, and a single plant is able to forest a whole island. READ MORE

  3. 3. Novel electrode and photoelectrode materials for hydrogen production based on molecular catalysts

    Author : Andrew J. Bagnall; Leif Hammarström; Vincent Artero; Sascha Ott; Alexander Cowan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electrochemical mechanism; hydrogen; artificial photosynthesis; molecular catalyst; hydrogen evolution; cobalt; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The PhD project focussed on the application of a cobalt tetraazamacrocyclic complex, in the literature commonly referred to as [Co(CR)Cl2]+ as a molecular catalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). This was within the broader scope of the EU MSCA H2020 ITN ‘eSCALED’ project, which primarily aimed to create artificial leaf devices for the storage of solar energy in chemical fuels and, as part of this, sought the development of novel bio-inspired and scalable materials. 4. 4. Structure evolution of spin-coated phase separated EC/HPC films

    Author : Pierre Carmona; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spin-coating; controlled drug release; porous film; drug delivery; confocal laser scanning microscope; kinetics; phase separation mechanisms; cellulose; biopolymer; phase separation;

    Abstract : Porous phase-separated films made of ethylcellulose (EC) and hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC) are commonly used for controlled drug release. The structure of these thin films is controlling the drug transport from the core to the surrounding liquid in the stomach or intestine. However, detailed understanding of the structure evolution is lacking. READ MORE
