  1. 1. The plantaris tendon in relation to the Achilles tendon in midportion Achilles tendinopathy : studies on morphology, innervation and signalling substances

    Author : Christoph Spang; Sture Forsgren; Håkan Alfredson; Patrik Danielson; Karim Khan; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Plantaris tendon; Achilles tendon; Achilles tendinopathy; innervation; morphology;

    Abstract : Midportion Achilles tendinopathy (tendinosis) is a troublesome painful condition, often characterised by pain, local swelling, tenderness and functional disability. Despite extensive research, the pathogenesis is poorly understood and treatment remains challenging. Features related to the peritendinous connective tissue can be of importance. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nitrogen land-sea fluxes in the Baltic Sea catchment : Empirical relationships and budgets

    Author : Hanna Eriksson Hägg; Christoph Humborg; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Hans Borg; Sybil Seitzinger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nitrogen fluxes; Baltic Sea; primary emissions; riverine export; Scenario analysis; climate change; animal protein consumption; fertilizer use; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : In this thesis empirical relationships and modeling tools are used to describe the relationship between human activities and meso- and large scale riverine N fluxes from land to sea. On a large scale Paper I showed that by only having knowledge about human population size and runoff one can estimate the riverine export of DIN (r2= 0.76). READ MORE

  3. 3. Empirical Essays on Retail Logistics and Customer Behavior

    Author : Christoph Baldauf; Olov Isaksson; Fredrik Eng Larsson; Jan Fransoo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; retail logistics; online retail; omnichannel retail; customer behavior; marketing-operations interface; Business Administration; företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : Retail logistics is responsible for making products available to end customers. Traditionally, this was facilitated through a network of brick and mortar stores that customers visit to buy items. However, the advent of online and omnichannel retail started to challenge this established system. READ MORE

  4. 4. Axionlike particles, quantum loops, and supernovae : The role of quantum loop corrections for astrophysical ALPs

    Author : Eike Christoph Müller; David Marsh; Frank Wilczek; Bo Sundborg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical Physics; teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis the quantum field theory and astrophysical phenomenology of axionlike particles (ALPs) are studied. The effective field theory of ALPs is reviewed with a special focus on quantum loops, the renormalization group equations, and the equivalent forms of the interaction between ALPs and fermions.
