  1. 21. RNA Polymerase I regulation by chromatin remodelling

    Author : Yuan Guo; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Marikki Laiho; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RNA Pol I; ribosome genes; chromatin remodelling; WSTF; CHD4; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Cell proliferation and growth is correlated with effective protein synthesis and ribosome biogenesis. The transcription of the 47S pre-ribosomal RNA by RNA Polymerase I (RNA Pol I) machinery is the rate-limiting step of ribosome biogenesis and can accounts for more than 50% of total cellular transcription. 2. 22. Chromatin transcription and dietary proteins : with observations on the RNA synthesis of rat liver in response to the protein content and amino acid composition in the diet

    Author : Stefan U. Åström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis aims at characterization of fractionated chromatin with respect to bound and free RNA polymerase activities together with an analysis of the in vitro transcription of chromatin after changing the protein or amino acid content of the diet.Rat liver nuclei were incubated with micrococcal nuclease which acts as an endonuclease on DNA. 3. 23. Zinc and human sperm chromatin

    Author : Svante Kjellberg; Björn Afzelius; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : X-rny microanalysis, Sephadex® chromatography of seminal plasma and exposure of spermatozoa to sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), were methods used to study the zinc content of sperm chromatin, the nature of the zinc binding ligands present in seminal plasma and the stability of the sperm chromatin in whole semen samples from fertile and infertile men. Split ejaculates were used to study the same variables in different fractions of the same ejaculate. READ MORE

  4. 24. Molecular mechanisms underlying the activation of ALC1 nucleosome remodeling

    Author : Luka Bacic; Sebastian Deindl; Stefan D. Knight; Lari Lehtiö; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ALC1; CHD1L; nucleosome; ADP-ribosylation; chromatin; remodeling; PARP1; HPF1; DNA damage; Biology with specialization in Structural Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot strukturbiologi; Biology with specialization in Structural Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot strukturbiologi; Biology with specialization in Structural Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot strukturbiologi;

    Abstract : Packaging DNA into chromatin represses essential DNA-based processes, such as transcription, DNA replication, and repair. To change the accessibility of DNA, cells have evolved a set of enzymes referred to as chromatin remodelers that act on the basic repeat unit of chromatin,  the nucleosome. READ MORE

  5. 25. Chromatin remodelling and gene regulation

    Author : Birgitta Gelius; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Chromatin plays an important role in gene regulation, as it forms an obstacle for a number of proteins that need access to the DNA. Several protein complexes that open up the chromatin structure have been identified and some of these are important for gene regulation. READ MORE
