  1. 21. Integrative genomic and survival analysis of breast tumors

    Author : Szilard Nemes; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; biostatistics; cancer; survival analysis; gemonics; DNA copy number aberrations; messenger RNA;

    Abstract : With the continued accumulation of genomic data at ever increasing resolution the challenge ahead lies in reading out meaningful clinical/biological information form the data that can contribute to a better understanding of the cancerous process. The need for novel approaches, new statistical methods is therefore strong. READ MORE

  2. 22. Trinucleotide repeats and neuropsychiatric phenotypes

    Author : Qiu-Ping Yuan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Trinucleotide; repeat expansion; psychiatric disorder; gene; spastic paraplegia;

    Abstract : Genetic studies of affective disorders have yielded several chromosomal regions suggestive for linkage. Linkage analysis was performed in five families with unipolar affective disorder, collected from northern Sweden. Four candidate regions on chromosomes 16, 18, 21 and 4p were excluded. READ MORE

  3. 23. Tumor Suppressor function of the deubiquitinating enzyme BAP1 and its substrate gamma-tubulin In regulation of cell cycle and genome stability

    Author : Reihaneh Zarrizi; Avdelningen för translationell cancerforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In normal cells, the cell cycle is controlled by a complex series of signalling pathways by which a cell grows, replicates its DNA and divides. The critical task of the cell cycle is to ensure that DNA is faithfully replicated and that identical chromosomal copies are distributed equally to two daughter cells during mitosis with the help of the mitotic spindle. 4. 24. The Neuroblastoma Genome and Epigenome - Patient Stratification and Identification of Candidate Genes

    Author : Helena Carén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : cancer; neuroblastoma; epigenetics; DNA methylation; microarray; tumor suppressor gene; tumor; embryonal; neural crest; bisulfite sequencing; 1p36; 11q; MYCN; CASZ1; PIK3CD; PRKCDBP; SCNN1A; TGFBI; DHRS3; KRT19; DUSP23; APITD1; H2AFX;

    Abstract : Neuroblastoma (NB) is a tumor of the sympathetic nervous system, and the most common extracranial tumor of childhood. The prognosis for high-stage NBs is still poor, with survival rates of about 35%. Side-effects of treatment in these young children can also be severe. READ MORE

  5. 25. Clinical and molecuar studies of papillary thyroid carcinoma : with an emphasis on prognostic factors

    Author : Petra Kjellman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Papillary thyroid carcinoma; MIB-1; RET-proto-oncogene; RET PTC; CGH; prognosis;

    Abstract : Thyroid cancer accounts for approximately 1% of all cancers reported. In Sweden 45/100, 000 inhabitants annually present with thyroid carcinoma. There are four different variants of thyroid carcinoma: papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), follicular thyroid carcinoma, medullary thyroid carcinoma and anaplastic thyroid carcinoma. READ MORE
