  1. 16. Enabling a Robot for Underwater Surface Cleaning

    Author : Houssam Albitar; Amy Loutfi; Anani Ananiev; Mikael Ekström; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; underwater robot; underwater cleaning; biofouling; adhesion; locomotion; stability; Reglerteknik; Automatic Control;

    Abstract : Biofouling build-up on submerged structures such as ships, petroleum and gas storage tanks, electric power plants, bridges, oil rigs etc. is a major problem that affects the surface material of the structure, the eventual hydrodynamic quality of the surface and in some cases the efficacy of cooling systems. 2. 17. Approaches to scale-up CO2 emissions reduction in the energy supply sector in developing countries

    Author : Wathanyu Amatayakul; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sectoral no-lose target; electricity generation; biomass; CO2 abatement; Thailand; CDM; developing countries; biofuel;

    Abstract : This thesis, which consists of five papers, addresses two themes related to the need for a scale-up of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction in the energy sector in developing countries: (1) approaches to support developing countries in scaling-up emissions reduction, and (2) an approach to scale-up emissions reduction --cultivation of fuel wood to replace fossil fuels in electricity generation.In the first paper, the potential volume of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions reduction and reduction credits in the electricity sector under a sectoral crediting mechanism based on a sectoral no-lose, non-binding, target in the post-2012 period is assessed for seven high-emitting developing countries by means of different scenarios. 3. 18. From Molecular Catalysts to Hybrid Electrodes: A Theoretical Guide

    Author : de Gracia Triviño Juan Angel; Mårten S. G. Ahlquist; Aleksandra Vojvodic; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical Chemistry and Biology; Teoretisk kemi och biologi;

    Abstract : The industrial revolution thrived our society to great technological advancement and a shift from an agrarian to an industrial society. Besides this fact, the side effect has been the development of a society highly dependent on energy, and the main sources of energy are based on non-renewable fossil fuels. READ MORE

  4. 19. Molecularly Imprinted Solid-Phase Extraction and Liquid Chromatography for Biological Samples

    Author : Kristina Möller; Ulrika Nilsson; Maria Kempe; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the use of molecularly imprinted polymers as selective sorbents for solid-phase extraction (MISPE). The MISPE methods developed were mainly intended for use with biological samples, such as human urine and blood plasma. READ MORE

  5. 20. Theoretical Studies on Artificial Water Splitting-Water Oxidation and Proton Transfer

    Author : Ying Wang; Hans Ågren; James Gardner; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The present thesis is concerned with the theoretical studies on artificial water splitting process. As the quick development of research on utilizing of solar energy, which is a green, clean, and renewable energy source, many research groups focus their attention on artificial photo-synthesis systems inspired by the photosystem I and II.
