  1. 11. The 14-3-3 protein family - Conserved structure, diverse functions

    Author : Magnus Rosenquist; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; regulation; phosphorylation; plant; plasma membrane; fusicoccin; H ATPase; binding motifs; specificity; evolution; 14-3-3; isoforms; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi;

    Abstract : While once abstruse, 14-3-3 proteins are now well known as players in several cellular processes. These processes range from apoptosis and mitosis in mammals and yeast, to regulation of primary metabolism in plants. To date, 104 proteins have been shown to interact with 14-3-3s of which 85 are found in mammals and yeast, and 21 are found in plants. READ MORE

  2. 12. Exploring the Chemical Evolution of Globular Clusters and their Stars : Observational Constraints on Atomic Diffusion and Cluster Pollution in NGC 6752 and M4

    Author : Pieter Gruyters; Andreas Korn; Piercarlo Bonifacio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stars: abundances – stars: atmospheres – stars: fundamental parameters – globular clusters: individual: NGC 6752 and M4 – techniques: spectroscopic; Astronomy with specialization in Astrophysics; Astronomi med intiktning mot astrofysik;

    Abstract : Through the cosmic matter cycle, the chemical evolution of the Milky Way is imprinted in the elemental abundance patterns of late-type stars (spectral types F to K). Due to their long lifetimes ( 1 Hubble time), these stars are of particular importance when it comes to studying the build-up of elements during the early times of our Galaxy. READ MORE

  3. 13. Th Dynamics of Star Cluster Formation

    Author : Juan Pablo Farias Osses; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Star Formation; Star Clusters; Stellar Dynamics;

    Abstract : A major question in astrophysics is how star clusters form. These objects are important, since they are the birth sites of most stars, perhaps including our own Sun. READ MORE

  4. 14. Photosynthetic Oxygen Evolution - EPR studies of the manganese cluster of photosystem II

    Author : Sindra Peterson Årsköld; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; S2 state; second cycle; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; S0 state; light-adaptation; pulsed EPR; methanol; relaxation; microwave power saturation; S-cycle; Oxygen-evolving complex; Water-oxidizing complex;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a new electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) signal from photosystem II is presented. The signal is shown to originate from the S0 oxidation state of the oxygen-evolving complex (OEC). READ MORE

  5. 15. Search for lensed supernovae behind the galaxy cluster Abell 1689

    Author : Tanja Petrushevska; Rahman Amanullah; Ariel Goobar; Peter Lundqvist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lensed supernovae; gravitational lensing; galaxy cluster Abell 1689; Astronomy; astronomi; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Distant supernovae probe the history of cosmic expansion and star formation, and provide important information on their progenitor models. Investigation of supernovae type Ia for  are needed to reveal any evolution in their intrinsic properties, and thus their utility as existing distance indicators. READ MORE
