1. First step to a genomic CALPHAD database for cemented carbides : C-Co-Cr alloys
Abstract : CALPHAD (CALculation of PHAse Diagrams) denotes the methodology used to assess thermodynamic data based on experiments as well as on first principles calculations. Essential for this method is the coupling of phase diagram and thermodynamic properties. READ MORE

2. Thermodynamic Study of Co-Cr and C-Co-Cr Systems
Abstract : An experimental investigation of the binary system Co-Cr and the ternary system C-Co-Cr has been carried out in the present thesis. The experimental strategy adopted for the binary system was to measure the thermodynamic activities of Cr, the molar heat capacity as function of time, the phase transformation temperatures with corresponding enthalpies, the Curie transition temperature as well as melting temperatures with corresponding enthalpies. 3. Thermodynamic Investigation of Co-Cr Alloys
Abstract : In a collaborative effort between the Divison of Metallurgyand the Divison of Computational Thermodynamics, RoyalInstitute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden, experimentalinvestigations have been carried out in the binary Co-Crsystem. The experimental strategy has been to measure thethermodynamic activities of Cr by the solid oxide electrolytegalvanic cell technique, as well as to measure the molar heatcapacities of the alloys, as function of temperature, by theDSC technique. 4. Experimental and theoretical study of carbides in the Co-Cr-C system : Structure, alloying and stability
Abstract : The research presented in this thesis explores the structure, alloying and stability of the carbides in the Co-Cr-C system by using the CALPHAD approach supported by experimental measurements and ab initio calculations.WC-Co based cemented carbide materials consist of hard WC grains and a ductile Co-based binder. 5. Laser cladded steel - microstructures and mechanical properties of relevance for railway applications
Abstract : Owing to increased requirements like increased axle load for railway wheels and rails, new material have to be employed. However, these requirements are mostly surface related, which makes it appropriate to change only the surface layer while keeping the bulk unchanged. READ MORE
