  1. 1. External Water Condensation and Angular Solar Absorptance : Theoretical Analysis and Practical Experience of Modern Windows

    Author : Anna Werner; Arne Roos; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Svend Svendsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Engineering physics; Windows; External condensation; Radiative cooling; Optical properties; Coated glass; External condensation; Radiant cooling; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : Part I of this thesis is a theoretical background to parts II and III. Part II treats the phenomenon of decreased visibility through a glazing due to external water condensation, dew, on the external surface. Some simulations are presented where it is shown that under certain circumstances condensation can be expected. READ MORE

  2. 2. Interacting Magnetic Nanosystems : An Experimental Study Of Superspin Glasses

    Author : Mikael Svante Andersson; Roland Mathieu; Dino Fiorani; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spin glass; SQUID magnetometry; maghemite; magnetism; nanoparticles;

    Abstract : This thesis presents experimental results on strongly interacting γ-Fe2O3 magnetic nanoparticles and their collective properties. The main findings are that very dense randomly packed (≈60%) γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles form a replica of a spin glass. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structure-Property Relationships of Surfactants at Interfaces and Polyelectrolyte-Surfactant Aggregates

    Author : Mikael Kjellin; KTH; []
    Keywords : nonionic surfactant; sugar surfactant; poly ethylene oxide ; amide; ester; polyelectrolyte; SDS; hydrophobic surface; glass surface; mica; adsorption; aggregation; micelle size; surface forces; wetting; dynamic surface tension; NMR; TRFQ; SANS; SAXS; ;

    Abstract : The first part of this thesis is concerned with thestructure-property relationships in nonionic surfactantsystems. The main aim was to investigate how the surfactantstructure influences the adsorption at interfaces andinteractions between surfactant coated interfaces. READ MORE

  4. 4. Polymer-coated paper and board - Role of substrate, polymer characteristics and additives

    Author : Thomas Schuman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; surface energy; latex; surface roughness; corona; contact angle; barrier properties; liquid sorption; surface treatment; calendering; poly vinyl alcohol ; coating;

    Abstract : The surface roughness of paper or board has a significant influence on the homogeneity of an applied polymer film, and this thesis discusses how it may be improved by a surface treatment, e.g. high-temperature calendering or precoating. READ MORE

  5. 5. Material development of a textile bioreactor : All-polyamide composite for the construction of bioreactors

    Author : Mostafa Jabbari; Mikael Hedenqvist; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; textile bioreactor; biofuel; coated fabric; all-polyamide composite; polyvinyl chloride PVC ; solvent replacement; Hansen solubility parameters HSPs ; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Abstract : Bioreactors are manufactured from stainless/carbon steel, concrete, glass, etc., which are costly and time-consuming to install. Recently, several research studies have been initiated to find cost-efficient materials for constructing bioreactors, one of which is coated textiles. READ MORE
