1. Coated Surfaces for Inkjet-Printed Conductors
Abstract : In this thesis, a number of commercially available paper substrates of various types are characterized and their characteristics related to the performance of inkjet-printed conductors using silver nanoparticle ink. The evaluated performance variables are electrical conductivity as well as the minimum achievable conductor width and the edge raggedness. READ MORE

2. Optics of coated paperboard : Aspects of surface treatment on porous structures
Abstract : Calendering of coated and uncoated paper is widely used to enhance optical properties such as gloss and print quality. The aim of this thesis is to characterize coatings and prints, and to validate models using experimental results from optical measurements of physical samples. Calendering of coated paper often leads to a brightness decrease. READ MORE

3. On the Adhesion Between Substrates Covered with Polyelectrolyte Multilayers
Abstract : This thesis examines the formation of Polyelectrolyte Multilayers (PEM) on cellulose fibres as a new way of influencing the fibre surface and the adhesion between wood fibres. The aim of the study was to enhance the fundamental understanding of the adsorption mechanisms behind the formation of Polyelectrolyte Multilayers on cellulose fibres; to study how the properties of the layers can be influenced and to show how the properties of the layers influence the adhesion between the fibres and the strength of paper sheets made from the PEM treated fibres. 4. Metal Films for Printed Electronics : Ink-substrate Interactions and Sintering
Abstract : A new manufacturing paradigm may lower the cost and environmental impact of existing products, as well as enable completely new products. Large scale, roll-to-roll manufacturing of flexible electronics and other functionality has great potential. READ MORE

5. Coated Ferritic Stainless Steels as Interconnects in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells
Abstract : Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) have gained increased research interest as they arepromising devices for a decentralized and clean electricity and heat production. Severalmaterial challenges have to be solved to reach sufficient efficiencies and life times. READ MORE
