21. Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy of III-Nitride Semiconductors
Abstract : This Licentiate Thesis covers experimental and theoretical investigations of the bulk plasmon response to different compositions and strain states of group III-nitride materials. Investigated materials were grown using magnetron sputtering epitaxy and metal organic chemical vapour deposition and studied by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). 22. Effects of the environment on quantum systems: decoherence, bound states and high impedance in superconducting circuits
Abstract : Superconducting circuits in the quantum regime represent a viable platform for microwave quantum optics, quantum simulations and quantum computing. In the last two decades, a large effort brought this architecture from an academic curiosity to concrete technology. READ MORE

23. Multipactor in low pressure gas and in nonuniform rf field structures
Abstract : Resonant electron multiplication in vacuum, multipactor, is analysed for several geometries where the RF electric field is nonuniform. In particular, it is shown that the multipactor behaviour in a coaxial line is both qualitatively and quantitatively different from that observed with the conventionally used simple parallel-plate model. 24. Topology optimization of antennas and waveguide transitions
Abstract : This thesis introduces a topology optimization approach to design, from scratch, efficient microwave devices, such as antennas and waveguide transitions. The design of these devices is formulated as a general optimization problem that aims to build the whole layout of the device in order to extremize a chosen objective function. READ MORE

25. On the Analysis of Horns, Reflectors, and Periodic Structures
Abstract : The design and manufacturing of a dual-frequency horn is presented. The dual-depth corrugated horn is fed by a circular and a coaxial waveguide, in the upper and lower frequency band, respectively. The reason for choosing a waveguide-only feeding network is discussed. READ MORE
