1. Coherence : Studies in epistemology and belief revision
Abstract : This thesis consists of seven papers and a comprehensive summary. The subject matter is so-calledcoherence theories of justification, according to which epistemic justification, and ultimately knowledge,is essentially a matter of relations between beliefs, of how well they hang together. 2. Coherence and Reliability: Studies in Bayesian Epistemology
Abstract : In this thesis the connection between coherence and reliability is investigated. The question may be phrased as follows: does the fact that a set of testimonies is coherent imply that the witnesses who have reported these testimonies are reliable? The same question may also be expressed in terms of beliefs: does the fact that a set of beliefs is coherent imply that the beliefs were reliably produced? Traditionally, coherence theorists have thought that coherence is connected to truth, but in this dissertation the thesis is that it is rather connected to reliability. READ MORE

3. Episodes in talk : Constructing coherence in multiparty conversation
Abstract : This study contributes to an understanding of how coherence can be assigned or constructed by participants in authentic multiparty conversational interaction. Coherence is analysed as a type of organisation relevant for the making of meaning in situated interaction, but also in retrospect from a third party's (or analyst's) perspective; it is both constructed and reconstructed. 4. Probing and improving coherence in Free-electron lasers
Abstract : Free electron lasers or FELs, have transformed the way science has been done in the last decades by providing coherent, highly brilliant radiation at wavelengths not achievable with conventional lasers. Their most important characteristic, along side brightness, is their coherence, which allows users to perform experiments that rely on precise phase characteristics of the probing radiation. 5. Caches, Transactions and Memories : Models, Coherence and Consistency
Abstract : Computers have brought us inestimable convenience in recent years. We have become dependent on them and more sensitive to their performance. During the past decades, we have been trying to improve program efficiency. The invention of multi-core systems is regarded as the new era of boosting performance of computer programs. READ MORE
