1. Rotational Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy - Development and Applications
Abstract : During the last decades, coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) has been an important tool in combustion research. The focus of this thesis is the improvement of the capability of the pure rotational CARS (RCARS) technique for this type of applications. READ MORE

2. Development and Application of Pure Rotational CARS for Reactive Flows
Abstract : The thesis deals with the further development of pure rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (RCARS) for improving the capabilities of gas phase thermometry. The main effort has been to make the technique more robust when employed under a wide range of temperatures and operational conditions. READ MORE

3. Development of dual-broadband rotational CARS for applied flame diagnostics
Abstract : The thesis work involved the further development of the dual-broadband rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (DB-RCARS) approach to applied flame diagnostics. This included the development of new experimental approaches, of new theoretical rotational CARS models, and of new evaluation routines as well as exploration of the potential of DB-RCARS to provide reliable thermometric measurements and measurements of concentration under a variety of conditions common in combustion research. 4. Theoretical Studies of Raman Scattering
Abstract : Different theoretical approaches have been presented in this thesis to study the Raman scattering effect. The first one is response theory applied up to third order of polarization, where the determination of α, β and γ is used to calculate linear Raman scattering (resonance Raman scattering (RRS) and normal Raman scattering (NRS)), hyper Raman scattering (HRS) and coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS), respectively. 5. Application of Laser Techniques for Combustion Studies
Abstract : The aim for this work has been to increase the applicability of laser spectroscopy techniques for studies of combustion processes, both what regards in-flame experiments, exhaust-gas analysis and remote sensing of the atmosphere. Raman spectroscopy has been used for analysis of exhaust gases from flames, model fires of wood and for inflame measurements. READ MORE
