  1. 1. Thermo-Acoustic Properties in Combustion Chambers

    Author : Guillaume Jourdain; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mode Stability Analysis; Computational Aeroacoustics; Screech mode; Arnoldi s Method; Buzz mode; Afterburner; Gas turbine combustor; Combustion instabilities;

    Abstract : Design and analysis methods for gas turbine combustors or afterburners have to be improved in particular regarding the prediction of combustion instabilites. A methodology, which combines the use of a linearized flow solver and an Arnoldi algorithm performing the eigenmode extraction procedure, resolves eigenmodes which are candidates to these instabilities. 2. 2. CFD Modelling of Hydrogen Rich Biomass Syngas Combustion

    Author : Nikolaos Papafilippou; Rikard Gebart; Kentaro Umeki; Muhammad Aqib Chishty; Christophe Duwig; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; RANS; LES; FGM; Turbulent Combustion; Numerical Combustion; Swirling Flows; Gas Turbines; Biomass Syngas; Hydrogen; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : The loss of biodiversity, due to pollution and global warming, is more important and relevant now than it has ever been. Man made climate warming has its roots in the huge amount of CH4 and CO2 emissions, which have increased by 47% and 156% respectively since 1750. READ MORE

  3. 3. Experimental investigation of flows related to gas turbine combustion

    Author : Dragan Stankovic; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mechanical engineering; combusiton; flameless; jets in cross flow; chemiluminescence; POD; LIF; PIV; Spray; Gas Turbine; single digit NOx; Premixed Combustion; hydraulics; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik;

    Abstract : The notion of "global warming" has become a major public-domain concept as an environmental threat to our future on earth. Independently of the accuracy of existing prediction of combustion emissions on the climate on earth, the concept of reducing combustion emissions has been an important political driving force in imposing more and more severe restrictions on harmful emissions from combustion. 4. 4. Flow instabilities in centrifugal compressors at low mass flow rate

    Author : Elias Sundström; Mihai Mihaescu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Centrifugal compressor; flow instabilities; rotational flows; rotating stall; surge; compressible Large Eddy Simulation; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : A centrifugal compressor is a mechanical machine with purpose to convert kineticenergy from a rotating impeller wheel into the fluid medium by compressingit. One application involves supplying boost air pressure to downsized internalcombustion engines (ICE). READ MORE

  5. 5. Post-Detonation Afterburning of High Explosives

    Author : Katja Fedina; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : Explosives; Combustion; LES; Finite rate chemistry; Explosives; Combustion; LES; Finite rate chemistry; Height of Burst;

    Abstract : High performance of an explosive compound with respect to afterburning requires sufficient combustible properties of the explosive, and a careful determination of the most appropriate charge positioning to achieve the desired afterburning effect. Understanding the physical processes of post-detonation afterburning and how these are affected by the surroundings, e. READ MORE
